Description

Kingsbury High School is State Secondary school for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed )

Kingsbury High School has many strengths and a long history of success.  There is a keen understanding of the importance of values and a sense of tradition, encapsulated by the School motto, spectemur agendo.  It dates back to the founding of the predecessor school, the Kingsbury County, in the 1920s, and it is Latin for, “let us be judged by our actions”.  The students gain excellent examination results in both GCSE and across the Sixth Form.  In the most recent inspection Ofsted again rated the school as “good”. Equally, the school is very proud of the way it has achieved these outcomes and the rounded education it offers to its students.  We recognise our place in the community and are a key part of the partnership, Kingsbury Schools Together with the local primary schools and the Village (special) School.

The Kingsbury Curriculum Overview
At Kingsbury High School we recognise that our curriculum is vital in preparing our young people for future success. They are very proud of the broad, rigorous curriculum they offer all the students which is full of opportunities and challenge that will enable them to develop the knowledge and skills they will need throughout life. The curriculum is a key part of the UNICEF Rights Respecting status - particularly Articles 28 and 29. The stage consists of Years 8 and 9 as students complete their Key Stage 3 curriculum.  They build on their learning from the Transition Stage and in Year 9 they begin making their choices for the qualifications they will gain in the Examination Stage.  Students also begin their Religious Studies GCSE at this stage in Year 9.

Inclusion & SEN
Kingsbury High School is a fully inclusive mainstream school where they take great pride in the diversity of the community. They believe that, whatever your backgrounds, you can be successful at the school. The aim is to develop the skills and strategies to reduce barriers to learning by meeting the needs of all children through embedding adapted pedagogy and ambitious pastoral support.

Sport
The individualised learning programmes focus on independent learning and character building, alongside traditional skill and fitness development. Through our curriculum we teach and encourage competition, inclusion and develop knowledge of the world of sport. The PE curriculum is designed to empower students with skills that are used throughout their adult lives. The emphasis has moved away from how good students are at a certain sport to what skills they develop whilst learning various sports.
