Wykeham Primary School is in an inner city area in the London Borough of Brent. We are a two form entry school with an intake of 452 pupils between the ages of three and eleven from a wide and diverse community. There are 34 pupils attending Nursery which consists of both full-time and part-time places.
Facilities
We have our own swimming pool, a spacious Computing Suite with 3D facilities, a well-resourced library, sports field and gardening area.
76 pupils (16.8%) are on the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities register, of which seventeen pupils (3.8%) have an Educational Health and Care Plan.
26% of pupils are eligible for Free School Meals. For pupils entitled to the Universal Free School Meals in Key Stage 1, 96.1% receive this.
69% pupils speak English as an additional language. The main languages, other than English, spoken by our pupils are Arabic, Somalian and Romanian. Over thirty different languages are spoken in the school.
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND): When planning, teachers at Wykeham Primary School set suitable learning challenges and respond to children’s diverse learning needs. Some children have barriers to learning that mean they have special needs and require particular support by the school. These requirements are likely to arise as a consequence of a child having special educational needs. Teachers take account of these requirements and make provision, where necessary, to support individuals or groups of children and thus enable them to participate effectively in curriculum and assessment activities. Such children may need additional or different help from that given to other children of the same age. Children may have special educational needs either throughout or at any time during their school career. This policy ensures that curriculum planning and assessment for children with special educational needs takes account of the type and extent of the difficulty experienced by the child.
