Huckleberry Therapeutic School is Independent Primary school in Oxfordshire for kids aged 5 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

The school is  committed to making a real difference in the lives of the children in the setting. They aim to give our children the very best start to their educational journey, developing lifelong love of learning, ready for independence and the stepping stones to their education.We aim for every child to be excited by their learning, so that they themselves are motivated to be the best that they can be. The inspirational, talented and compassionate  team are dedicated  to every child achieving. Working closely with parents and carers, they make sure that pupils are happy and that they are achieving success in all areas of school life within a nurturing approach and within a supportive network of staff and friendships.

Curriculum
Huckleberry Therapeutic School is a special day school in Wantage, Borough of Oxfordshire We provide quality pupil led, thematic and innovative education for pupils aged 5 to 11. Pupils who attend our school present a wide range of needs including SEMH, Autism, ADHD. The curriculum at the school consists of all the learning experiences needed in order to maximise learning potential and to ensure that pupils work towards achieving the outcomes as defined in their Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans and accomplishing our school goals of ensuring our pupils are ready for their next steps in education.

Special Education Needs
Huckleberry School is an inclusive school; we believe that every child should be given the tools they need to succeed. The quality of children's teaching has the greatest impact on learning, but some children may require further support that is additional to or different from others in order to learn best. They use the EHCP to support the child and guide the school in planning for individualised learning packages and outcomes as per agreed with parents/carers and other professionals.We believe that an holistic approach is essential. This team includes the child, the parents/ carers, school staff and other professionals. Huckleberry School looks forward to working with pupils and parents/carers to ensure they have full inclusive access to our curriculum.

Things to note

Forest School
One of the most important objectives of Forest School is to foster a sense of belonging to a group of peers but also to enable children to function independently within that group.  Some of the activities that the young people will take part in may involve an element of risk.

Therapeutic Offer
At Huckleberry Therapeutic School, we believe that for children to be successful, it is essential for them to be well cared for and to feel emotionally nurtured. Many of our children may experience a range of social, emotional and mental health issues which are preventing them from thriving in their academic and personal life. The school has developed a therapeutic model to provide early intervention when a child is in need and ongoing support through their time at Huckleberry. The model takes a holistic approach to working with children and families.
