Hillingdon Manor Early Years and Primary School offer
Access to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) & National Curriculum for all pupils aged from three and a half to twelve years. The National Curriculum is tailored to the individual needs of the pupil through the use of the Rising Stars Progression Framework & The Access to Education Framework. The Pupil and School Support SEN Toolkits are designed to be used in primary settings with pupils in Year One or above who are working significantly below the expected level for their age, and are not making progress towards closing the gap.Curriculum delivery is supported through the Total Communication approach for pupils who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Our topic curriculum is implemented through ‘The creative Learning Journey’ which is a skills based curriculum focusing on personalised learning through topic. Our focused teaching procedures ensure that each child progresses at their own individual pace and works towards achieving their potential.
Key stage 3
The curriculum approach enables all pupils to be taught in a way which optimises their learning and is relevant and meaningful to them. All pupils work at their own level through individualised teaching strategies and differentiated lessons based on the expectations of the National Curriculum. Key Stage 3 teachers aim to ensure that a sound basis is developed for all pupils with different profiles of ability and performance in different areas. This prepares our pupils for the coming years of gaining qualifications and accreditation. They strive to develop an in depth knowledge of each pupil’s profile of ability so that the school is well placed to develop strengths and maximise potential.
Key Stage 4 & 5
The secondary curriculum offers excellent educational opportunities for national accreditation. They provide effective support for the individual learning needs of our pupils so that they can access a range of certificated subjects. They also deliver a range of vocational and life skills subjects, including work experience, to prepare pupils for life beyond school.Accreditation available to learners at Hillingdon Manor School includes GCSEs, Entry Level qualifications and certificates/awards/diplomas in line with the National Qualifications Framework.
Home Learning and Support
The focus is on the wellbeing of the pupils, their families and how we can provide support and schooling during the coming weeks and months. The virus has brought monumental change to how we teach and care for children and young people and presents a particular challenge for children and young people who require specialist support as they, and their families, adapt to new social distancing measures and forms of learning.
Therapy Overview
The therapy provision at Hillingdon Manor School is designed to support the students’ overall development by addressing their individual identified needs. We make effective use of the students’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to design appropriate support and intervention programmes which has a positive impact on their outcomes.There is a strong focus on enabling all students to develop socially appropriate communication skills, alongside their academic, social, emotional and physical development.There are many needs that students with an Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) have that can adversely affect their learning and ability to engage positively at school and at home. At Hillingdon Manor School they endeavour to provide support at both the individual and environmental level to ensure that specialist tailored support is delivered to every student to better enable them achieve their full potential.
