Hillborough Junior School, Luton is an Independent Primary school for kids aged 7 to 11 (Gender - mix). They are a Local Education Authority junior school, served by a truly professional and dedicated staff, determined to realise our pupils all round academic and personal potential. Hillborough Junior School is a thriving, happy community. Their staff are committed to delivering an education based on the National Curriculum to the highest of standards.

Facilities

EXTRA CURRICULAR: Hillborough Junior School offers a variety of after school clubs and activities for children to attend and enjoy. These are run by staff at the school and any children wishing to take part must have a signed slip from parents/carers. Some clubs will have limited spaces. If the number of children waiting to join a club exceeds the limit, a waiting list will be set up. Minimum numbers will apply for some clubs to operate.Staff will let parents know if a club is to be cancelled with as much notice as possible and the school text messaging service will be used where possible to do this.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITY: At Hillborough Junior School, we are dedicated to inclusion and providing a meaningful education that supports and challenges all pupils. If you have any queries or comments please speak to Mrs P Whelan (our SENCO and Inclusion Manager) who will be able to help you.If it is felt that more support is needed to help a child progress, the class teacher, together with the SENCO, develops an Individual Education Plan (IEP), which sets out clear and manageable targets and strategies that are individual to your child. These are in addition to the normal help and support given to all children.

CURRICULUM: They believe that all pupils arrive at school as individuals, having acquired various degrees of learning through their family and the community in which they live. This learning is then fostered by the infant school, in our case usually Hillborough Infant School, where the curriculum has been designed to promote knowledge, concepts and skills from first hand experiences and activities.In our junior school we attempt to build upon this foundation. They endeavour to develop each child's social and academic potential to the full. The curriculum strongly emphasises the importance of children being active in learning through having practical experiences, placing emphasis upon developing values, attitudes, concepts and skills.In line with the new 2014 curriculum, the school provides a broad and balanced curriculum comprising core and foundation subjects. Religious Education is also taught, following the Bedfordshire RE curriculum. They also place great emphasis on the use of Computers, Computing as a subject and Computer training, having own computer suite.
