Description

Skyswood Primary and Nursery School is a single form entry school located in the pleasant residential area of Marshalswick on the North-East side of St Albans. The school has been a part of the local community since opening in 1960. They are also home to Skyswood Nursery, a 30 place mornings only nursery, that offers a warm and encouraging step into education for pre-school children. The school caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 11, and is arranged in classes according to age range. The children are accommodated in classrooms with a maximum of 30 pupils in each class. They also have the 30 place Skyswood Nursery on the site that serves the local community.

Facilities

The school has a large assembly hall, an extensive library/learning area, a spacious dining room, a dedicated music room, and a suite of networked computers. There are seven very large classrooms, each with its own toilets, wash basins and cloakrooms. Each classroom also has its own computer equipment, including interactive whiteboards. They have also just completed a fabulous upgrade to the heating system throughout the school (February 2020), through a large scale project which replaced our original school boiler and provided with an energy-efficient solution for the future.
The school grounds are attractive, with two hard surface playing areas, a large playing field, extensive outdoor apparatus, a cycle shelter and a scooter shelter. There are separate playgrounds for Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2), reflecting the different ages and needs of the children.
