Nursery
Eaton House The Manor Nursery is a spacious, bright, modern, purpose-built building which is alive with boys and girls who are happy, independent and curious learners. As they are non-selective at entry, interest is keen and early application is advised, with registration accepted from birth. Boys almost always automatically transition to our renowned Pre-Prep School in an adjacent modern building and on to the Prep School in a beautiful Georgian house on our 1.5-acre site. In 2020, the Prep School achieved a record number of scholarships and awards to top schools. Girls can join the wonderful Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School at 4, where 11 pupils gained scholarships to senior school this year.
Boys’ School
Eaton House The Manor educates approximately 450 boys between the ages of 4 and 13. They are a non-selective, nurturing and academically rigorous school, with outstanding teachers. They believe that learning should be an exciting journey, and all aspects of school life are tailored to ensure that the boys’ natural curiosity and eagerness to learn are harnessed in these formative years. The boys start at our Pre-Preparatory School, where they spend four happy years before moving seamlessly on to the Prep School at eight years of age. A handful of boys leave at 11+, with the great majority moving on to some of the country’s most prestigious boarding and day schools at 13+. Both the Pre-Prep and Prep schools have the same values and ethos, and, by running as two schools, they are able to create age-appropriate systems and structures so that the boys are properly nurtured and challenged throughout their time with them.
Girls’ School
There is a ‘sky is the limit’ approach to learning at Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School and all our pupils are encouraged to use their intelligence in a dynamic way to demonstrate quick, reasoned and engaging responses to the world about themWe treat each girl as an individual so that she can blossom academically and socially. We want each girl to have the confidence to discover where her gifts lie in a calm and purposeful atmosphere, where her spiritual, moral and intellectual development is nurtured.
Activities
There are many activities on offer, from sports and swimming, to IT, drama and design. The Cubs (the younger children) and Bears are excited and curious to learn through being exposed to a variety of experiences, from cooking and yoga to pottery and languages. In our playground, which is directly accessible from the classrooms via huge sliding doors, there are bright and colourful concentric circles, outsize wooden blocks to develop fine and motor skills, sand and water play, and a wonderful ‘house’ to play in. Inside the beautifully appointed nursery rooms, there is a huge range of the latest educational toys, dressing-up and mini-home areas (complete with Henry the Hoover in miniature!), quiet reading tents, and much more.
Sport
Whether it’s the development of crucial life skills, the value of competition or simply the sheer enjoyment that it brings, sport is integral to the daily routine at Eaton House. In addition, they believe that being regularly active enhances not only the girls’ academic performance but also, more crucially, their physical and emotional well-being. A healthy body can so often lead to a healthy mind. All the sports are taught and coached by subject specialists with a real passion for making sport accessible for all. They are also firm believers in offering a full range of sports so that the girls never perceive any sports as being off-limits simply because of their gender. Football is now played by girls of all ages, and, having introduced cricket in 2017 to the senior girls, we are now able to field teams in this as well as rounders in the summer.
Arts
At Eaton House The Manor the wide range of performance opportunities enables boys to share their talents with the community. There is a strong emphasis on participation, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to shine and showcase what they have learned in their lessons.Drama is an essential part of school life, and is integral to developing the boys’ social and speaking skills. Weekly drama lessons are interactive and engaging and allow the boys to build confidence in a safe and fun environment. The boys are given the opportunity to perform in class assemblies, theatre productions, music concerts and the annual poetry recital competition.
