Facilities

Nursery
Nursery is a big step for children and parents alike. It’s an exciting change but we also know it can be a worrying one and that’s why we take the time to properly settle-in every child ensuring our parents feel happy and reassured. That pastoral care continues throughout Nursery and the school. All our Nursery staff are qualified teachers and that makes a difference to your children's learning and development. In our experience, it provides the best possible introduction to learning and school life.

Reception and Pre-Prep (4-7 years old)
Starting with Reception we build upon the exciting start children have made to their learning in nursery, whether that’s been with us or with one of our local nurseries. Children are encouraged to broaden their skillset, try new experiences and cultivate their resilience in a safe and inspiring environment.

Prep (7-11 years old)
The Prep department at Parkgate House is a vibrant and exciting place for children to learn, with a rich and challenging curriculum. The ethos of creating self-confidence and independence in a happy, stimulating environment never waivers, as mathematics, English, science, humanities, French, Latin, various sporting activities, ballet, karate, horse riding and swimming become part of daily life for the children. The co-curricular life in the Prep school is equally effervescent, offering a range of clubs. Whether a keen sportsperson, avid scientist or musical mastermind there are an array of extra-curricular activities to suit every interest.

Things to note

Outdoor Learning
Not everything can be taught inside the classroom and why should a classroom be confined by its walls? The world outdoors is a living, breathing classroom! They are lucky enough to be next to Clapham Common, and make full use of its 220 acres of parkland creating opportunities for our children to link their classroom learning with the natural environment around them; acquiring those skills and experiences that the classroom can’t teach alone. Outdoor learning is challenging, fun, healthy and integral to Parkgate lifeThey believe that every child should experience the outdoors as part of their education, wellbeing and personal development and that’s why our timetable has regularly planned practical-based outdoor activities, trips to places of interest and residential courses.

Send
At Parkgate House School, they believe each pupil is special and has unique talents, interests and strengths. The staff work together to nurture our pupils whatever their needs and to encourage and help each pupil to achieve their full potential.Children with SEND must be valued as individuals and should be encouraged to integrate with their peers, both socially and academically. We support children in a manner that acknowledges their entitlement to share the same learning experiences that their peers enjoy.Partnership with parents is key to enabling pupils with SEND to achieve their potential. All parents of pupils with SEND are treated as partners and supported to play an active and valued role in their child’s education.

Clubs
They believe that children flourish when they can extend their learning beyond the classroom. They offer a full extra-curricular clubs programme which provides a wide range of enrichment opportunities.
