This view is backed up by evidence at every level – from pre-school to PISA (the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment) – that boys and girls have different learning styles and arrive at school with very different social skills, fine and gross motor skills and communication skills.
Nursery
Eaton House The Manor Nursery is a spacious, bright, modern, purpose-built building which is alive with boys and girls who are happy, independent and curious learners.Pastoral care is extremely strong and “100% rated it excellent or good” – Cappco, 2017. Each child is supported and encouraged, quickly gaining independence and confidence and soaring past their educational milestones. As we are non-selective at entry, interest is keen and early application is advised, with registration accepted from birth. Boys almost always automatically transition to our renowned Pre-Prep School in an adjacent modern building and on to the Prep School in a beautiful Georgian house on our 1.5-acre site. In 2020, the Prep School achieved a record number of scholarships and awards to top schools. Girls can join our wonderful Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School at 4, where 11 pupils gained scholarships to senior school this year.
Boys’ School
Eaton House The Manor educates approximately 450 boys between the ages of 4 and 13. They are a non-selective, nurturing and academically rigorous school, with outstanding teachers. They believe that learning should be an exciting journey, and all aspects of school life are tailored to ensure that the boys’ natural curiosity and eagerness to learn are harnessed in these formative years. The boys start at our Pre-Preparatory School, where they spend four happy years before moving seamlessly on to the Prep School at eight years of age. A handful of boys leave at 11+, with the great majority moving on to some of the country’s most prestigious boarding and day schools at 13+. Both the Pre-Prep and Prep schools have the same values and ethos, and, by running as two schools, we are able to create age-appropriate systems and structures so that the boys are properly nurtured and challenged throughout their time with us.
Girls’ School
Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School takes girls from age 4-11. There is a ‘sky is the limit’ approach to learning at Eaton House The Manor Girls’ School and all our pupils are encouraged to use their intelligence in a dynamic way to demonstrate quick, reasoned and engaging responses to the world about them. They treat each girl as an individual so that she can blossom academically and socially. We want each girl to have the confidence to discover where her gifts lie in a calm and purposeful atmosphere, where her spiritual, moral and intellectual development is nurtured.
Cubs and Bears
The children start in the Cubs’ room and go through to the Bears’ room after a term or two depending on which term they enter the school. Both rooms are bright, spacious rooms full of new experiences and toys to explore. The home corner is always a hugely popular with our little ones. There is a gentle introduction to sounds and numbers, which are explained through fantastic hands-on experiences. The children can search for numbers in the sandpit or find sparkly sounds floating in the water.
Multicultural Activities
To broaden the children’s learning and to encourage children to understand that “some things make them unique” we also do smaller projects, such as celebrating festivals and world costumes. For Diwali, we create rangoli patterns and Divas. We make the most of our multicultural staff team and have had real Divas and Indian outfits brought in. Recently we had a member of staff who had worked in a school in India and this allowed us an opportunity to show our children how different their lives are to daily lives of other children around the world.
Sports
Every child participates in sports activities during the week. Sports sessions take place in our fully equipped gym or sports hall. The huge space with all the equipment and our wonderful specialist sports staff ignite a passion for sport at an early age. The children are exposed to a number of sports including football, hockey, tennis, gymnastics, basketball and athletics.
