Early Years
The Early Years of a child’s formal education are critical and formative. What happens between the ages of two and five sets the tone for the rest of their learning journey. The children at this Foundation Stage are typically grouped into Preschool (age 2 – 4) and Reception (age 4 – 5). However, the entire Early Years cohort is housed in the same classroom with access to the same resources and following the same outdoor timetable.

Key Stage 1
Play is vital. Especially when you’re between 5 and 7 years old. At this age, play should be independent, creative, and explorative. There should be no set rules or limits. Play helps develop negotiation skills and build social relationships. It’s an opportunity for children to take risks and learn from them.Key Stage One at Dania is a natural extension and progression from our Early Years provision, maintaining the same fun atmosphere and a continued focus on play, alongside more formal and structured learning activities. This Key Stage covers Year 1 (age 5 – 6) and Year 2 (age 6 – 7).

Key Stage 2
Problem solving. Creativity. Resilience. All desirable qualities in a person, regardless of age. Developing and nurturing these personal attributes is at the very core of our teaching here at Dania, and forms a big part of our work at Key Stage Two. Welcome to Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.Dania’s KS2 cohort is divided into two groups: Lower Key Stage Two (Year 3 and 4) and Upper Key Stage Two (Year 5 and 6). Building on the foundations laid in Key Stage One, the children’s learning is extended more intensely as we move towards the transition into Secondary School.

Features

Things to note

FREE FLOW LEARNING
At Dania our Early Years provision is based on the idea of the Unique Child. Where creativity, critical thinking and active learning are developed through play and exploration. And each child is free to pursue their own interests and ideas in a free flowing environment.

A LIFE OUTDOORS
Outdoor learning forms a huge part of our approach, at Dania. No matter what, regardless of the weather, we go outside for at least two hours a day, if not more. Our Early Years students have their own designated space to explore, investigate and enjoy. Their very own construction playground. Filled with lots of different materials – tree trunks, branches, sand pits, water supplies, pallets – there are no pre-designed or assembled structures at all. Our children have the freedom to adapt the space as they wish, developing their own creative structures and making it into their own play area, as the mood takes them.
