Selly Manor is a timber-framed building in Bournville, that was moved to its current site in 1916 by chocolate manufacturer and philanthropist George Cadbury. Made up of two beautiful buildings, Selly Manor Museum is in the heart of Bournville village in Birmingham and has a fascinating history.

  • Collection & archives: George Cadbury founded Selly Manor Museum, but itÂ’s his son Laurence who is responsible for much of our fantastic collection. The Laurence Cadbury Collection includes some elaborate, intriguing and beautiful examples of furniture and domestic objects. 
  • Talks & Tours: Bringing history to life is one of our specialities at Selly Manor Museum. We welcome all groups to come along and experience the history of Selly Manor, the Laurence Cadbury Collection and George Cadbury's garden village of Bournville. We provide an array of talks and tours for booked groups, both on site and at your venue, delivered by our knowledgeable team.

  • Explore the garden: Play in our maze, find the Tudor toilet, look for the woodland animals and enjoy our seasonal garden Discovery Trail.
  • Dressing Up: We have lots of fantastic dress up clothes at Selly Manor. Will you be a common Tudor or will you dress up like a king? Or will you be brave enough to try on some armour and become a knight?

  • Car Parking: Street car parking is available on Maple Road and Sycamore Road. There are no parking restrictions, but these roads can be busy during weekdays. Alternatively, there is a small car park behind the Sycamore Road shops, the entrance can be found alongside the Kafenion cafe, and is 2 minutes' walk from Selly Manor Museum.
  • Food & Drinks: During events we often serve hot drinks and snacks at Selly Manor, plus Bournville also has a number of places for you to enjoy food and drink as part of your visit to us.

  • By road: Selly Manor Museum is on the corner of Maple and Sycamore Roads, just off the A4040 at Bournville green. The entrance gate is on Maple Road. 
  • By bus: The number 11 Outer Circle and number 27 both stop at Bournville village green (Linden Road). 
  • By train: Bournville is the nearest station. To check train timetables, please visit National Rail Enquiries. It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from the train station to Selly Manor Museum. To do this, alight the train on platform 2 and exit left via the steps. On exiting the station turn left onto Bournville Lane, turn right onto Linden Rd / A4040, and turn right onto Sycamore Rd. Turn left onto Maple Rd.
  • By bike: We have a designated area for bikes at the museum in our garden.
