Dartmoor Zoological Park, located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and just 15 minutes from Plymouth, is a 33-acre zoo home to a wide range of exotic and native animals. It is known for having the largest variety of big cats in the South West of England, alongside many other fascinating species. Visitors can enjoy a fun, educational, and wildlife-filled day surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes.

The zoo features animals from Amur tigers and leopards to Brazilian tapirs, capybaras, geladas, and Iberian wolves, as well as rare native species. Guests can take part in unique animal experiences, such as meeting meerkats or enjoying tea with a tiger talk. The gardens, filled with historic trees and exotic plants, add to the park’s charm.

Admission includes a free annual pass upgrade, with adult tickets at £21.95 and child tickets (ages 3–15) at £16.50; under 2s are free. Family and concession rates are also available.

  • Gardens: Dartmoor Zoo is not only home to hundreds of different species of animals, but it is also filled with beautiful plants from around the world.Dartmoor Zoo is built across the 30-acre park and gardens of Goodamoor House. Originally built in the 17th century by Paul Ourry Treby of the Treby family, the zoo has inherited many of the original park and garden trees, including a magnificent example of a Turkey Oak (Quercus cerris) which is around 200 years old.

We’re open to all ideas and enjoy nothing more than creating bespoke packages to suit your needs and fit your budget. No matter how big or small your event may be, by hosting it at Dartmoor Zoo, you will be helping to fund the Dartmoor Zoological Society Charity in conservation & research.

  • By Bus: The 59 bus service stops outside the zoo main entrance. Route 59 operates from Monday to Saturday. There is no service on Sundays and bank holidays. The 59 leaves Royal Parade (stop A13) in Plymouth City Centre takes around 30 minutes, stopping at Sparkwell village and then right outside the zoo entrance. It takes approximately 45 minutes in the opposite direction from the George Park and Ride outside of Plymouth.
  • By Car: Arriving from the A38-If you’re arriving from the A38, take the Deep Lane turn off signed for Plympton, follow the signs for ‘Wildlife Park’ from the roundabout at Chaddlewood. This will take you past Langage Business Park to Sparkwell village, which we are just on the far side of. Once you get to Sparkwell, drive through the village and you’ll find us approximately 300 yards further on. Arriving from Plympton-Continue on the B3416 towards the Chaddlewood roundabout, then go straight ahead and follow the signs to Sparkwell. Once you get to Sparkwell, drive through the village and you’ll find us approximately 300 yards further on.
  • By Train: The closest local train station is at Ivybridge. There is a good taxi service which can take you to the Zoo.
