Description

Bristol and Bath Railway Path is a 13-mile traffic-free route built on a former railway line, connecting the vibrant city of Bristol with the historic city of Bath. Constructed by cycling charity Sustrans, it’s a safe and scenic path popular with walkers, cyclists, runners, and families. Open all year during daylight hours, it also serves as a wildlife corridor and links to other national cycle routes.

Along the way, visitors can enjoy sculptures like the Twisted Arch, pass through the lit Staple Hill Tunnel, and stop at historic stations such as Bitton and Warmley, where steam engines and cafés add charm. The path is flat and accessible, making it ideal for children, families, and those with disabilities. Scenic countryside, pubs at Saltford, and the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath make the route even more enjoyable.

Entry is completely free of charge.

Overall, the Bristol and Bath Railway Path is perfect for a day out, offering history, art, nature, and safe cycling or walking between two iconic cities. It’s a must-visit for families, commuters, and anyone who loves exploring outdoors.
