Things to note

  • Each lunchtime the girls are fully occupied. They can choose to join a large number of clubs including choir, orchestra, recorder, gymnastics, eco-warriors, dance, art, pottery, tennis, fencing, fitness, Yoga, drama and care of pets. 
  • Trips and visits bring the curriculum to life. They have included trips to animal sanctuaries, historic houses and even a local superstore.

Admission Details

JUNIOR SCHOOL ADMISSIONS: The Junior School admits pupils into two Year 3 (Transition) classes, with additional places available in Year 4 (Form I). A small number of places may be available for Year 5 (Lower II) and Year 6 (Upper II). Admission to the Junior School is by an Entrance Assessment for Years 3 and 4, ready for entry in the following September. The Entrance Assessment takes place in January of each year – please refer to published Admissions Timetable for the next admissions cycle. Applications will be accepted from late August for entry in September of the following year. SENIOR SCHOOL ADMISSIONS: Entry to the Senior School is by examination and interview. Examinations are held in January of each year and, following a review of the examination results, a significant number of girls will be invited for interview in the three to four weeks following the examination day. Please refer to published Admissions Timetable for the next admissions cycle.The Senior School Examinations for entry into Year 7 (Third Form) are for girls aged not less than 10 years 6 months and under the age of 12 years on 31st August in the year of entry. Papers are taken in English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. SIXTH FORM ADMISSIONS: Places in Withington’s Sixth Form are limited and prospective students who wish to apply should consider registering their interest in participating in the Sixth Form preliminary interview process during late November/early December. They recommend this route for girls who know their A Level subject choices and whose predicted grades meet the entry requirements (a minimum of six 7-9 grades at GCSE, with 8-9 grades in the subjects you wish to study). Based on the outcome of this interview, some candidates will be invited to make an application, after which a second interview would take place during March the following year.
