Wirral Grammar School for Girls is leading State Secondary school in Wirral. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls
They have been a Grammar School educating girls aged 11-18 since 1931 and now have just over 1,000 pupils, 300 of them in the sixth form. In August 2011 we became an Academy. The results are consistently high, and well above the national average with 98% - 100% of pupils achieving at least 5 grade 9 - 5 GCSE passes year on year and pupils achieve excellent ‘A’ Level results. The school has topped local and national league tables for the past ten years. The school is proud of the varied clubs and societies that we provide. We have highly successful sports teams, orchestras, and choirs. Many subject departments organise visits both locally and abroad. Girls support many charities and there are thriving links with local businesses and the community.
Key Stage 3
The 3-year KS3 curriculum from Years 7 to 9 delivers a depth and breadth of learning and experience that gives students the key knowledge, skills and understanding needed to make strong progress in their learning. It both supports their transition from primary school and provides the essential foundations required to successfully access accredited Programmes of Study in Key Stage 4, leading to the best academic outcomes possible at the end of Y11 and Y13. The curriculum inspires all students to learn and deepen knowledge and understanding of the full range of subjects for all students.
KS4 Compulsory Curriculum
Computer Science: In compliance with national curriculum requirements those pupils who do not choose to study computer science at GCSE level are given the opportunity to study aspects of information technology and computer science at sufficient depth to allow them to progress to higher levels of study or to a professional career.
Music
The vision in the Music department is that all pupils can develop a lifelong love of music through performing, composing and listening to a wide range of musical styles. Every pupil will learn to sing and play musical instruments, developing the self esteem, expression, confidence and cultural respect needed for their adult lives. We will celebrate a diverse range of genres and musical cultures, investigating great composers from the Western Classical Tradition up to the present day and how a musical education prepares learners for a range of careers.
