Admission Details

WESTHOLME PREP SCHOOL ADMISSIONS (For entry at the age of 4 to 11 years): They welcome children to our Prep School from the age of 4 and early registration is recommended due to high demand for places. Children are admitted into Reception in the September following their fourth birthday. Assessments take place at the end of the Spring Term preceding admission. Providing there is space in the year group, children are admitted into Prep School following a successful assessment in the term preceding admission in conjunction with a positive reference from their current school. Children are assessed in Non-verbal Reasoning, Mathematics, English, Reading and Writing. To find out more about vision for the Prep School please click here.

WESTHOLME SENIOR SCHOOL ADMISSIONS: Students are admitted into Year 7 in the September after their eleventh birthday subsequent to an Entrance Examination in the January preceding admission. The assessment consists of nationally standardised verbal, non-verbal and quantitative reasoning tests completed digitally on a PC and an English essay set by the school. Each child is also interviewed by a senior member of staff and they request a reference from their current school. The assessment, interview and reference are used to decide whether a place will be offered. Students seeking entry into Senior School at any other point will sit an Entrance Examination, attend an interview and submit copies of recent school reports. For all Senior School assessments the governors levy an assessment fee of £45.

WESTHOLME SIXTH FORM ADMISSIONS: In order to enter the Sixth Form, students are ideally expected to achieve 6 GCSEs at Grade 5, including English and Maths with a Grade 6 in those subjects they wish to study at A Level if they have taken them at GCSE. All students will also have an interview with the Principal and Head of Sixth Form when there will be an opportunity to discuss GCSE performance. Formal offers are sent in February so subject choices of applications made after this point may not always be able to be accommodated. Students joining from other schools will be invited to events throughout Year 11 to ensure that they feel fully settled and familiar with Westholme, staff and students before commencing their A Level studies.
