Features

Things to note

  • They offer a range of styles – contemporary, street, jazz, musical theatre dance and beginners ballet – that build upon dance skills, technique and confidence from lessons and support any further dance tuition.
  • Varied programme of opportunities ranges from the classics to the eclectic with dramatic work often approached as a collaborative ensemble between pupils and staff, and pupils often compose and play the music in plays.
  • In Years 7-9, pupils cover a wide range of art techniques, processes and media as part of Integrated Arts Programme.
  • They are unique in being one of the four Specialist Music Schools in England but within a setting of an independent secondary school. This allows to cater for musicians of exceptional talent on specifically designed programmes that puts music at the centre of the pupil’s daily school routine, but it also enables to be able to provide a very broad range of musical opportunities for those who pursue music as a hobby.
  • Photography is taught as an option in Years 8 and 9; pupils explore digital photography through a range of creative projects, learning camera skills and different digital and hands-on processes.
  • Pupils can choose from a wide variety of co-curricular activities, which aim to accommodate all abilities and most interests, at lunchtimes. The extensive range of indoor or outdoor pursuits take place during lunch, after school and at weekends so you can be sure to find something that suits you.
  • They offer pupils a wide range of sports to play, and we give them support and expertise to help them to develop their performance in the areas they choose.

Admission Details

Nursery: They welcome children from 2 years old, and they help them to adjust to nursery life over two weeks before they start their full sessions. Typically, children join us for at least three sessions a week and eventually build up to a full week, if desired, as they get older. They recommend you contact Admissions Team on 01749 834441 well before your child’s second birthday to ensure they have availability.

Reception - Year 6: Whilst pupils normally start in the Michaelmas Term, they often have vacancies available at other times of the year. They will ask your child to do an assessment exercise. They will need a satisfactory reference from the Head of their current school (where applicable).

Years 7 - 9: They hold assessment tests throughout the year, typically on a visit or taster day. Please remember you have to register before your child can take part. For prep school candidates, they mark Common Entrance 13+ Examination; however it is not a requirement for entry and all candidates sit own assessment tests. They do not provide past papers. They will need a satisfactory reference from the Head of their current school.

Years 10 - 11: Pupils enter Year 10 to begin the two-year GCSE course. Candidates will be interviewed and will need a satisfactory reference from the Head of their current school. For pupils going into Year 10, they hold assessment tests throughout the year. Please remember you have to register before your child can take part.

Sixth Form: Candidates will have an initial interview with the Head Master or a member of the Senior Team. They will need a satisfactory report from the Head of their current school. Pupils will need satisfactory IGCSE or GCSE results in at least six subjects at grades 9-4 (A* to C ) and typically a minimum of grade 7 or 6 (A or B) in the chosen areas of Sixth Form study.
