The Stewart Bilingual School

Description

The Stewart Bilingual School is Independent Primary school in Kensington and Chelsea for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

The Stewart Bilingual School is a long established family owned nursery and primary school which is distinguishable from other bilingual schools by its dual French and British curriculum. The aim is to educate truly bilingual children in a happy, caring and culturally vibrant environment. Bilingual children are brighter, more focused and better able to multi task and to confidently adapt to a variety of surroundings. With 40 years of experience in the field of bilingual education, we have developed a broad, lively and intellectually stimulating dual curriculum which draws on the strengths and richness of the French and British traditions. The ambition is to provide our pupils with solid academic foundations in both systems and languages, giving them the tools to transfer seamlessly and with confidence to either a British secondary school, a French Lycée or an International school.

Curriculum
The Stewart Bilingual School teaches its pupils a balance of both the British National curriculum and the official programme of the French Education Nationale, from the first year of pre-school and throughout the end of the primary cycle. We have created a bespoke curriculum that combines the most valuable and challenging areas of each curriculum to provide a unique education to our pupils that reflects the needs and values of our school community.

Reading, writing
They teach our pupils how to read in English in Reception year (Moyenne Section) using small groups "phonics" sessions. The main objectives of this year are for the children to understand the mechanisms of the blending technique, and to know how to decipher and write simple words and also to start to learn the "tricky words". By the end of Year 1, pupils will have learned how to read and write according to the English Curriculum progression.

Mathematics
In mathematics they use proven learning techniques inspired by both the English and the French traditions of teaching, including memorization, which they believe is fundamental to cement notions so that they become part of the child’s active memory. We strive to provide children with opportunities to apply numeracy skills across the curriculum.

Cambridge Gardens Nursery
La Petite Ecole Bilingue Cambridge Gardens Nursery welcomes children from the age of 2 years upwards for either morning, afternoon or all day sessions, to take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays (until 12pm), Thursdays and Fridays.Activities are carried out in English and French by native speakers. The program conforms to the official instructions of the National Education Board, EYFS for English and Education Nationale for French. All our teachers are qualified and hold degrees.
