VALUES
Learning should be challenging, inspiring and fun and that even as adults there is always something new to learn together.
Every day at the school is different and every part of the day presents an opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop and apply new skills, both academically and socially.
Everyone demonstrates kindness and respect in the way they speak and act.
We should strive for excellence in all we do.
Communication & Interaction
The Communication and Interaction skills of our students are a key element of their development. These skill are taught in the school in a number of ways. The curriculum is delivered through language-focused and language-enriched teaching, students have discreet communication and social skills lessons and we have two Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) and a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SaLTA) who work in the school. The SaLT team ensure that the Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) of the students are met and that all staff are highly informed in their work with the students.
Group Reading
At The Park School we recognise that reading is a vital life skill that will impact on our student's level of independence in adulthood. It is also a literacy skill that many of our students have struggled with for many years prior to starting at The Park School. It is therefore, a priority for us as a school to provide the best reading experiences possible for the students. Staff at The Park ensure that all students have daily reading sessions that are; appropriate, stimulating and based on their particular reading level. Assessment, observation and discussion with students help us to put in place reading programmes designed to motivate engage and build on existing knowledge.
