The Lady Byron School (LBS) came about as a result of a growing recognition by the propreitor and headteacher that there are young people who are struggling to access a mainstream academic placement despite having the academic capabilities. However, due to the number of differences linked to their autism they were not making as good progress as they should, not only in their academic learning but also in their knowledge and understanding of how they think differently and what this means for them.As a result the Lady Byron School offers a more flexible educational provision for autistic young people and who will benefit from a specialist provision but that works together with local mainstream schools. The school teaches a curriculum that supports key content from the National Curriculum, with a bespoke program (LBS Curriculum) to address individual needs.

The vision is to facilitate self-empowerment with unique equine therapy methods to help individuals to achieve a state of complete peace and harmony by educating themselves to read their mind and body language and translate it into positive and sustaining action. They want to create a safe haven for vulnerable individuals in the community by nurturing them to survive, strive and succeed. Our services are inclusive, holding no judgment, and consistently provide excellent quality of service to all our clients. They will communicate openly about our work and ensure staff and volunteers are given direction to enable them to support the community in the best possible way.
