Description

Stonar is a co-educational day and boarding school, nestled in the stunning Wiltshire countryside. They offer a nurturing approach and a broad, balanced curriculum for pupils aged 2-18, enabling them to achieve academically and pastorally.

  • Pupils receive a strong grounding across many sporting disciplines through inspirational coaching and a fixtures programme that allows excellence and sport for all.
  • As the huge variety of stunning work on display around the school shows, modern, well-equipped studios provide opportunities for work in a range of media, including fine art, photography, ceramics and textiles. 
  • The wide-ranging programme of musical activities, in school and beyond, enables everyone to participate whether this is as part of the Chamber Choir, rock concerts or musical theatre performances.
  • Drama at Stonar is inspirational and ambitious. Many pupils will take part in productions and public events, performing to a variety of audiences. 
  • They offer an extensive range of after-school activities throughout the Senior school. This changes termly, with over 20 different clubs and activities for all interests.

Admission Details

The main points of entry are at:

  • Ages 2 and 3 (Nursery)
  • Age 4 (Reception)
  • Age 11 (Year 7)
  • Age 13 (Year 9)
  • Age 16 (Lower Sixth)

They also accept applications for other year groups depending on availability. Applicants for Years 7 and 9 participate in a selective Assessment Day in January. Entry into the Lower Sixth is dependent on pupils having achieved at least six GCSEs at grade 5 and above and minimum grades for individual subjects, as indicated in the Sixth Form Options Booklet.

Scholarships

Stonar offers a range of scholarships to talented pupils applying for entry into Years 7, 9 and the Sixth Form. The following scholarships are available:

  • Academic
  • Art, Drama, Music and Sport
  • Riding

Candidates may apply for a maximum of two scholarship awards. Applicants are encouraged to consult the Head Teacher of their current school about the suitability of their son or daughter for such an award.
