Description

St Piran's School is Independent Primary school in Windsor and Maidenhead for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

The much-loved school might have 200 years of history behind it, but it is always looking to the future. They continue to push the boundaries of academic excellence, artistic flair, sporting prowess and personal development within our clear Christian ethos.Anna, Isabella, Thomas and I feel blessed to have joined this very special community. From the moment we walked through the doors, we knew this was the school for us.  The children, like yours, will experience a truly personal journey, where they will feel valued and able to flourish, supported by inspiring teachers and an array of superb educational, extra-curricular and sporting facilities.  Happy children succeed and we place the relationships between staff, children and parents at the forefront of all we do.

Facilities

Early Years – Nursery and Reception
The Early Years unit is comprised of our Nursery and Reception classes, with a fantastic, shared outdoor space. Throughout the day, children can be seen whizzing up and down the playground on a variety of vehicles or hunting for minibeasts in our wildlife garden. We teach the children how food grows in our veggie patches and they love nothing more than to make mud pies in our outdoor kitchen. Inside, the children independently access all of the resources, using them to develop a whole host of skills. We recognise that all children are unique and plan individual learning experiences based on their interests and learning styles.

Lower School – Years 1 & 2
In the Lower School department for both Years 1 and 2, they have three classes of 18 children in each year. Each class has a support assistant who works under the direction of the class teacher. The children follow a curriculum that is broad and balanced and incorporates the National Curriculum. In Lower School we offer our children specialist teaching in French, art, music, games, swimming and ICT.

Middle School – Years 3 & 4
Throughout their time in Middle School, pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential across the whole range of traditional subjects. They are also given opportunities to develop their abilities in art, music, ICT, technology and to participate in poetry and acting performances. In Middle School, the class teacher is responsible for teaching English, mathematics (in sets), science, history, geography, art, DT and PSHCE. In addition, the children are taught French, music, RE, ICT, games, PE and swimming by specialist teachers.

Upper School – Years 5 & 6
The curriculum in these years follows, but goes far beyond, the National Curriculum. In small classes, the children are taught the core subjects as well as French, history, geography and religious education. There are also weekly sessions of music, art, design technology, PE, swimming, ICT and twice-weekly sessions of team games. Children in Year 6 also have the opportunity to study either Latin or Spanish. Children are placed into one of four sets according to ability for mathematics and English. This allows the teachers to extend the more able and to give those who need it, the support that they require to ensure that the basics of numeracy and literacy are firmly established.
