Features

Things to note

  • St Helen’s pupils of all ages enjoy a broad range of activities beyond those available in the classroom, and can be found every day engaging in co-curricular activities which genuinely broaden their experiences and horizons, and build the character attributes which will equip them for their adult lives. The co-curricular programme at St Helen’s is wide-ranging and constantly evolving, and the school day is organised to accommodate a great many co-curricular activities during lunchtimes and after school.
  • There is a designated Welfare room in both Prep and Senior School where girls can be looked after by one of our three-person Welfare team.
  • At St Helen’s they acknowledge and appreciate the heavy demands on working families, and are keen to support you as a family with flexible and nurturing wraparound care which is provided by partner Camp Beaumont. Further details and information on their successful childcare provision can be found here.
  • All pupils from Year 2 enjoy being a member of a House. The Houses allow for cross-year relationships to develop and encourage a sense of friendly rivalry played out on the sports field, the stage and House competitions. Every alumnae remembers the House they were in and they are a joyful part of our School.

Scholarships

The St Helen’s scholarship programme supports, encourages and develops excellence, whether it be in academic, creative or sporting fields of endeavour. Each year the School makes available a number of scholarships and exhibitions to recognise and reward exceptional candidates in academic study, music, sport and art. Pupils who hold an award are expected to work hard and to contribute positively to the life of the School. Many, of course, bring their talents to bear on the wider world as well. Scholarships are only awarded to Senior School pupils. Academic entry scholarships are awarded annually at 11+ and 16+ entry and are worth up to a maximum of 50% of the tuition fees. Scholarship awards are made on the basis of academic ability and are not related to family financial circumstances. There is no additional Scholarship examination for external pupils at 11+. In addition to academic scholarships, Music Scholarships and Exhibitions are available at 11+ and 16+ for applicants of exceptional musical ability. Sports Scholarships are available at 11+ and 16+, and Sixth Form Art Scholarships are also awarded. A scholarship award lasts for the whole period of a pupil’s education provided they maintain appropriate academic standards and behaviour.

Further details on Scholarships are available from the Admissions Department.
