Curriculum Intent
At St Bernadette’s the curriculum is designed to ensure that our children develop into confident, resilient and determined learners prepared for the next stages of their learning. When our pupils leave us we want them to do so with a love of God, a strong moral compass and the cultural capital they need to succeed. They want all of the pupils to believe in themselves and have the courage to ask questions and know that they can make a difference. At St Bernadette’s they have high standards of learning and behaviour: they value each and every member of our school family and as a result of that belief the pupils are empowered to challenge themselves, empowered to learn and aspirational for their futures. Embedded within the curriculum is the belief that each person is a unique creation of a loving God and has been bestowed with particular gifts to be developed and used for the service of others and as such they want service of others to be a central part of life in the school.
SEND
“To ensure a happy and secure learning environment. They celebrate the dignity and worth of all in the school community. As a Catholic school they recognise that in loving others they love Jesus and we help each other to achieve our full potential.” Some children require special educational provision because they have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of the educational facilities generally provided. These difficulties can be age related and may fluctuate over time. Many children with vision impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI) or a multi- sensory impairment (MSI) will require specialist support and/or equipment to access their learning, or habilitation support. Children with an MSI have a combination of vision and hearing difficulties. Some children with a physical disability (PD) require additional ongoing support and equipment to access all the opportunities available to their peers.
