Rupert House is a happy and high-achieving independent Pre-Prep and Prep School for boys and girls aged 3-11 years. We stand proudly at the heart of the beautiful riverside town of Henley-on-Thames. From the moment that children enter our care they are encouraged to adopt a Growth Mindset learning the values of creativity, respect, courage and resilience that will enable them to stand tall in the world. At Rupert House we are fortunate to be surrounded by a wealth of fantastic facilities with which we have built strong ties and collaborations. From the Rowing Club to the Rugby club, the local churches to the Kenton Theatre, the sports centre to the Cricket Club, our provision extends way beyond our school buildings and grounds.

Facilities

Private Early Years Nursery & Foundation Stage
They welcome children from the age of 3 into Nursery at Rupert House.  These youngest members of our Rupert House family, along with children in our Reception year, constitute our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), where the children learn and develop through play in a happy, safe and exciting environment. The EYFS is made up of seven areas of learning and forms the basis of the curriculum in these two year groups.

Private Pre-Prep School - Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7)
Having completed the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in Reception, Rupert House children in Years 1 and 2 go on to follow the National Curriculum with a timetable structured to balance child-directed play with adult support so that pupils view learning as an exciting and personal journey. The experienced staff foster a family atmosphere encouraging creativity, thoughtfulness and kindness to others to give children a positive, enjoyable and memorable start to their academic life and each child is allowed to develop at his or her own pace.

Private Prep School - Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11)
Pupils entering Year 3 follow an increasingly broad curriculum as they are taught by subject specialists for Art, Music, Drama, ICT, Science, Games, PE, PSHE and French with the support and security of a form teacher. The form teacher plays a vital role in supporting a child in his or her form and is the first point of contact for parents. Parents meet with the form teacher at Parent Evenings and have an in-depth discussion regarding their child. Additional meetings can be arranged, outside this time, and regular contact is maintained through email, the homework diary and reading journal.

Learning Support
At Rupert House we encourage children to become confident, independent learners helping them to reach their full potential.  We recognise that all children learn differently and because of this, our teachers use a range of multi-sensory, differentiated and creative methods as part of their everyday teaching.  However, children often need a little bit of extra support and our dedicated Learning Support team is on hand to help your child at any point during their time at Rupert House.

Performance plays a major role in the curriculum at Rupert House and we are very proud of our Music and Performing Arts offering. They aim to inspire and enthuse all children to enjoy Music and we passionately believe in the power of Music and Performing Arts to build confidence, teamwork and communication skills. They offer a comprehensive range of opportunities for children to learn an instrument, sing, dance and perform. Most children from Reception to Year 6 learn at least one musical instrument and we have ten peripatetic teachers who visit the school on a weekly basis to teach the children. All pupils have a timetabled weekly Music lesson and from Year 3, all children in the school also have a weekly Performing Arts lesson, too.

Rupert House offers a range of exciting extra-curricular and sporting activities both during the school day at break and lunch times, and also before and after school. A selection of these clubs are held internally by the school teachers, whilst others are run by external professionals.
