Rossendale School is Independent Secondary school in Selective for kids aged 7 to 18 (Gender - 7 to 18 )
Rossendale School provides a first class education for up to 104 young people aged between 7 and 18 years old who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties who will also be diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and possibly a variety of other comorbid syndromes. All our pupils have a Statement of an Education, Health and Care Plan.The school is also able to offer residential support for up to 12 young people, which has been judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the past ten years. The two homes can accommodate both boys and girls on weekly boarding placements, as well as respite care for existing pupils. They are committed to helping each of the pupils prepare for adulthood, never losing focus on what they are capable of achieving. They work closely with the young people and their families to support them to reach their potential through academic progress and the development of social skills.

Whilst they recognise that the young people have additional needs, Rossendale School maintains high educational expectations for our pupils. They believe that with the expert staff team, individualised learning packages and extensive therapeutic support available at Rossendale School, students are well placed to make academic progress and achievements in line with their peers in mainstream settings. “Pupils have access to an exceptional range of activities that help them to become independent young citizens. They take part in many trips such as visiting the theatre and skiing in Italy. Pupils develop their understanding of healthy relationships, responsibilities, and the wider world. They are well prepared for life beyond school.

Activities and facilities
Rossendale School was originally housed in an 18th Century stone farmhouse and the uniqueness of these former farm buildings reflects the school philosophy of offering bespoke learning packages. They have purposely designed the school to create a non-institutional atmosphere that is both warm and caring whilst offering opportunities for learning and personal development in a high quality setting. As the school has developed and grown, new specialist classroom areas have been created to compliment the Farmhouse.
Therapy services
Rossendale School offers pupils a wide range of therapeutic input. Where a young person has followed the appropriate referral process and/or where a need is stated in their EHC plan, the school is able to provide timely access to the in-house therapeutic team.
