Mainstream schools and a ‘one size fits all’ approach to education may not fully meet the needs of students with complex needs. Quay View School delivers specialist, personalised learning and support that enables young people to overcome their barriers and achieve their potential.
The school is a warm and nurturing environment where students receive the support they need to develop emotionally and socially, and progress academically. It prepares the children and young people for a fulfilling future as active citizens who contribute positively to society. The highly experienced and dedicated staff team make learning feel meaningful and enjoyable. They build positive relationships so that students feel secure, understood and valued.
Features
Things to note
The children and young people are encouraged to engage with learning and with life more generally, by pursuing their interests and aspirations. They create learning that works for each student, making this rewarding and motivating by connecting it with their interests and goals for life.
They are committed to delivering personalised educational support, which is shaped by students’ individual strengths, preferences and life goals. Learning is holistic and seeks to develop each young person as a whole. The aim is to enable students to progress and address their unique challenges, all within a caring and highly supportive therapeutic environment.
They have ambitious expectations for students in all aspects of school life. They are dedicated to guiding young people every step of the way along their personalised learning journey, and supporting them to feel positive and hopeful about their future. With specialist support, the young people in care are empowered to build the social and independence skills that they need to make positive transitions to further learning or employment.
Admissions Criteria: All referrals, consultations and enquiries are assessed independently, focussing on whether Quay View School can meet the needs of the child or young person. The needs and potential risks are carefully considered, both in terms of the impact on the new student and existing cohort of students.
