Nursery
Nursery. A happy place to be in which our children wonder, explore, discover and ask questions about the world around them. When you walk into our nursery classrooms children are engaged in small tasks and select their own resources in different learning zones. Whether it be indoors or outdoors in our dedicated Early Years playground, skilled practitioners are working alongside each child to facilitate learning and cater for individual needs, strengths and interests. Quite simply, it is a place where your child develops their confidence whilst feeling safe and having fun. The Early Years Foundation Stage consists of 7 areas of learning, which are interlinked throughout the environment.
Prep School
The bespoke curriculum is designed and delivered to be intellectually exciting, academically engaging and imaginatively stimulating. It is a great honour to help shape the young minds of tomorrow, and we work tirelessly to make sure Prospect House pupils leave is with the courage, confidence and creativity they need to thrive at senior school and beyond.For us, academic excellence is a given. Things to note
Music
When walking around the school, at any time of day, the chances are that the corridors will be filled with the faint sound of children singing or playing instruments.The longstanding director of music is a former head chorister and it is no wonder that singing plays a large part in the life of a Prospect House pupil. The children are taught to sing properly from an early age and expectations are high, with attention to detail. Year groups sing together each week and there is a senior choir for all children in Years 5 and 6, plus an auditioned chamber choir for the best singers in the school.
Sport
Sport has always been a central part of life at Prospect House School. To enable sportsmen and women to compete successfully, they need to be given a sound foundation and expert tuition. In order for each child to find the sport he or she does best, they should be provided with a full range of opportunities. For a child to do well in sport, they need to have talent, but they also require motivation, enjoyment and focus. All of this is encouraged from an early age at Prospect.
Drama
All the children are given the opportunity to perform in class assemblies, theatre productions, concerts and the annual poetry recital competition. They also learn to appreciate theatre out of school, with regular visits to local theatres including Shakespeare’s Globe. They emphasise participation, building confidence and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to shine. Our drama lessons are fun, interactive and engaging. We aim to ensure every child develops confidence and a love of acting and theatre. Music, dance and performance are key elements of life at our school. Children happily demonstrate all they have learnt in our spectacular musical and dramatic productions.
