Pinewood School

Shrivenham, Swindon SN6, United Kingdom
3-13 Years

Description

Pinewood School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 3 to 13 (Gender - 3 to 13 )

Pinewood focuses on instilling a love and passion for learning from the earliest entry point.  Children are absolutely prepared for top independent senior schools, and many move on with scholarships and other awards, but more than that, the children are taught independence, confidence, resilience, manners, self-reliance and importantly a regard for others.Pinewood offers an educational provision that is child-centred and holistic to the core. There is ample space within a good school for scholarly teaching, but it is the overall cultivation of mind, body and spirit that counts the most.At Pinewood, education does not stop and start at the classroom door. Academic excellence is certainly evident, but so are the highly impressive endeavours in the Sport, Music, Art and Drama departments, not forgetting Activities and Pinewood Adventure. Of course, effort and talent should always be celebrated, as it is crucial that we work hard at boosting the children’s confidence – as confidence, in my opinion, is one of life’s most valuable commodities and helps children tackle the impossible and imagine the unimaginable.

Facilities

Pre-Prep
Pinewood Pre-Prep and Nursery has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where children are nurtured and supported at the start of their educational journey, enabling them to reach their full potential. At this early stage, efforts are focused on delivering an imaginative and engaging curriculum that works to develop self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence. Children continue to receive a broad and balanced creative curriculum, studying a range of subjects as they move into Key Stage 1.

Prep
Moving up into the Prep School is an exciting and much anticipated step for each child. Continuing to develop the confidence, ambition and love of learning of the children remains a key focus throughout the Prep School.  Success is celebrated, independence is encouraged and collaboration is promoted. The Prep School is divided up into three ‘schools’, all of which have their own individual base, which allows the children the space to grow into their new surroundings.  Lower School is home to Years 3 and 4, Middle School to Years 5 and 6 and Upper School to Years 7 and 8. The school day is structured in a different manner to Pre-Prep, and naturally the expectations on the children increase as they move through the school; that said, they are very much supported and guided through this process.

Features

Things to note

Co-Curricular
The commitment to a holistic approach to education and the importance of allowing the pupils to develop through a range of opportunities means that the co-curricular programme is wide and varied.

Sport
From an early age, children are taught about the importance of playing sport and activities in a balanced and enjoyable manner.  All pupils are encouraged to give their best, regardless of their ability, to achieve both individual and team goals.

Music
Music plays an important part in school life at Pinewood, as they believe it is paramount to a holistic education. Children are given the opportunity to perform in one of the many concerts held throughout the year, all catering for inclusivity, for specialist ensembles and soloists.

Drama
Drama at Pinewood is taught not only to instill an enjoyment of the subject, but also to nourish creativity, build self-confidence, improve communication skills and develop a facility for empathy and consideration of other people’s views.

Art
The Art department at Pinewood is a thriving, creative and exciting environment where pupils are encouraged to see themselves as artists.  The aim is to instill joy and passion for art in an environment where pupils have an opportunity to extend their learning through their own ideas.
