Parks Primary School is a State Primary school for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Curriculum
At Parks Primary School, the curriculum is designed to recognise children’s prior learning and experiences begun at home and, for some children, in pre-school settings. Every child is recognised as a unique individual and they welcome and celebrate differences within our school community. They believe that a child’s first experience of school should be a memorable and a positive start to their learning journey. They aim to provide a broad, balanced, varied and enjoyable curriculum which will enable each child to develop emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually, and achieve their full potential. They use a topic approach to teach the EYFS curriculum which supports learning, widens vocabulary, consolidates and deepens knowledge and ensures children meet their next steps. At Parks Primary School, they aim to ensure all pupils learn to read for meaning and pleasure. They teach children to read using the own Parks Primary School Phonics scheme which has been built on the Letters and SoundsHandbook. Children read phonics books from a small range of publishers that match the graphemes they have learned. As they progress, they also read books based on Reading Recovery book bands to support a careful progression in reading. Accelerated Reader supports further progression andreading for meaning and pleasure in KS2.
