Burton on the Wolds Primary School is an Independent Primary school for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - mix )
At Burton they welcome children, their parents and carers into a friendly, nurturing, hardworking and exciting environment, where respect for others and positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are firmly embedded. Relationships throughout the school are fundamental to a positive ethos. They have a very skilled and supportive Governing Body, who work in close partnership with the school community to ensure that there is mutual respect and trust, as well as challenge, ambition and drive. They are very proud of our strong partnership with the local community; village groups, Burton Pre-School, local primary schools, feeder secondary schools and the parish church at Prestwold. Together they ensure that the school is at the centre of the community and the children grow to understand the importance of belonging and develop a strong community spirit.
Curriculum
At Burton-on-the-Wolds Primary School, they believe deeply in the importance of helping our pupils develop as a whole person – happy, confident and ready to take the next steps into their education and lives beyond primary school, regardless of their starting point. They celebrate the difference. The aim is to create an exciting, interesting and engaging curriculum which is underpinned by the knowledge, skills and concepts relevant for each year group. The curriculum promotes and fosters confidence, independence, co-operation and self-esteem throughout the time the children are at Burton-on-the-Wolds Primary School, which will prepare them for life in 21st Century Britain – Character Education is at the heart of all they teach and permeates our classroom ethos. The offer is underpinned by the vision and ethos of ‘Inspire, Nurture, Flourish’. We want all of our children at Burton to leave with a range of experiences, to feel valued and respected and the self-belief to flourish. The curriculum is carefully crafted so that the children develop their academic, social and cultural capital. They have made informed choices about what experiences they want to include and how they build over time across the curriculum. They include both off and on-site experiences in the curriculum and make the most of what they have locally including utilising the planation for Forest Schools, links to local charities, business and universities.
