14-16 Years

Description

North Bridge Enterprise College college opened in 2013 and is an alternative education provision for pupils aged 14-16, who have been or are at risk of being permanently excluded due to their challenging behaviours and for those pupils who require more specialised interventions than can be provided in a mainstream college.

Facilities

The College, which opened in 2013, is located within the Eco-Power Stadium, a few miles from the centre of Doncaster. It is ideally located with good transport links and access to local amenities including sports facilities. The college site provides a range of specialist training of core curriculum and vocational training including a fully equipped food technology room, computer facilities and design technology opportunities. The school is always looking to develop the curriculum to provide pupils with even more learning opportunities. There is a bright, inviting atmosphere to the college, with colourful and informative displays and pupils’ work displayed throughout with pride. Class sizes are small and there are opportunities for pupils to have individual teaching sessions, where appropriate, in response to their needs. The adult to pupil ratio is 1:8 but we usually work on a 2:10 ratio. Pupils are encouraged to work alongside others and co-operatively in pairs and small groups, as the development of social skills and independent work strategies are vital.

Things to note

The College introduces the pupils to a wide range of knowledge, skills and experiences - linguistic, literary, mathematical, scientific, technological, moral, physical, aesthetic, creative and social. Northbridge Enterprise College fundamentally operates within two main principles: 1. All pupils, without exception, are to be valued as unique and special members of society. 2. All pupils can succeed and should be encouraged towards ever-greater appropriate challenges in all areas of their learning. The college is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Admission Details

Admissions Criteria: Pupils will either be unable to maintain a place in a mainstream school or be thought to be able to benefit from a stable period in a small supportive school environment. As the school holds a contract with Doncaster, any pupil requiring a place from DMBC will be referred via the inclusion panel or the behaviour support team. Referrals from other authorities are accepted depending on capacity. Admissions Procedures: When a placement is requested, a copy of the child/young person’s EHCP and/or other relevant documents, such as previous school reports, Individualised Education Programme (I.E.Ps), behaviour records, attendance etc. will be needed. This is in order to ascertain the suitability of the placement and to set up an education programme appropriate to the child/ young person’s needs. A planning meeting will then be held to determine if the placement is appropriate to the pupil’s needs. No pupil can be placed on roll without an admissions meeting taking place. Fees The academic year is 39 weeks divided into 3 terms. Fees will be charged on a weekly rate for 39 weeks of the year and will be invoiced on a termly basis for day pupils one term in advance. Should a pupil leave without prior written notice or not as a result of a review, then 6 weeks (half a term) fees in lieu will be required.
