Early Years
They have a dedicated team of qualified teachers striving to ensure that children develop a lifelong love of learning, a healthy curiosity and the ability to ask questions through the freedom of choice and exploration. They recognise the importance of social, emotional and physical development and ensure that each child is nurtured in order to become independent and confident through daily exploration and interaction.
Pre Prep
Transition at Lorenden is incredibly smooth – pupils in Early Years get to know their Year 1 class teacher during the summer term whilst secure in the knowledge that a number of their specialist teachers will remain the same and relationships already developed can continue. Strong liaison between staff means knowledge of each individual child is passed on in detail and pupils become familiar with their exciting new environment, before they start in Pre-Prep; ensuring a settled and happy start in September. Pupils are already familiar with being part of assemblies, lunches, playtime and are well known by staff; lesson and activity session demands increase gradually, as the needs and readiness of the children dictate.
Prep
For many parents moving into Prep, with its new uniform, can signal the start of the move towards the Kent Test and thoughts of secondary schools. Whilst teaching in Prep focuses on core subjects, breadth of curriculum remains important too and children continue to be encouraged to explore and exceed in all areas.

Clubs and Activities
Individual Music Lessons on a range of instruments, and for voice, are available from a team of peripaetetic staff, at additional cost, as are Individual LAMDA lessons. There is always after school care for pupils, which includes a homework club for Prep children, but for those who wish for something extra at the end of the day, before school or in a lunchtime
Sports Department
The school boasts a purpose built sports hall with modern changing room facilities and underfloor heating. Also they have the infamous and picturesque Lorenden grounds which holds our sports field comprising of U9 and U11 pitches. They also have access to acres of trust land where orienteering and cross-country is held. Closer to the school there is a hard court area used for tennis, netball and hockey throughout the year. We have affiliation and links with local facilities providing them with an astro-turf and a swimming pool.
