Find out more here, or arrange a visit.Academic rigour is accompanied by an equally strong focus on personal characteristics. Pupils benefit from our own Forest School, a strong commitment to Duke of Edinburgh Awards, extraordinary expeditions and the value of public speaking and debating. Each develops self-confidence, resilience and problem solving skills that will be essential in tomorrow’s workplace. We expect every individual to become engaging, innovative and collaborative contributors to the future.
Gosfield School Nursery – From age 2 to 4 years
The purpose-built nursery rooms and outside area are located in Meadow Court and the setting is supported by the same robust learning structure as the rest of our Prep School. This allows children from the age of 2 years, the opportunity to experience the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and to take advantage of teacher-led planning and expertise.Gosfield School Nursery is set in 110 acres of mature parkland and forest. Indoors, the Nursery is caring, engaging and spotlessly clean, whilst outside we are adventurous, spontaneous and muddy! Nursery pupils enjoy the earliest opportunity to explore, discover and collaborate with each other in line with the Gosfield School ethos, and they begin to learn to take responsibility for themselves and others in the safest of hands.
Prep School
They believe that every child is unique and as such it is our duty to ensure that everyone achieves their full potential in all areas of their development. We want our pupils to develop a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. The aim, therefore, is to provide every child with the very best education and support within an environment that is welcoming, safe and happy. The Prep school caters for children at the very beginning of their Gosfield learning journey in the Early Years Foundation stage to Year 6 and is located at Meadow Court, a purpose-built school set in extensive woodland. Learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom with dedicated Forest School sessions for all year groups and a real focus on extracurricular activities.
Senior School
As pupils join the Senior School, we recognise our responsibility to help prepare them not only for the academic challenges they face but also for the world beyond school. They are encouraged to become independent learners, to explore and expand their talents and to contribute fully to the school community. The curriculum is designed to engage and challenge all learners, and pupils thrive in small classes with specialist teachers. Those who need extra support or further extension find their needs catered for carefully. Tutors guide pupils in their academic work and their social interactions, communicating fully with parents to help pupils make sensible choices and develop generosity of spirit and mutual respect.
Extracurricular Activities
They actively encourage pupils to discover new interests and try out new activities. Not a day goes by at the school without dozens of our children throwing themselves into a fantastic array of clubs and extracurricular activities. The programme is reviewed each term to ensure they continue to introduce new activities whenever possible, and that pupils make full use of the facilities. Pupil numbers are limited for each activity and places are offered on a first come first served basis.
Forest School – Exploration and Discovery
The long-established Forest School, set in our platinum award-winning woodlands, provides the Nursery, Prep School and lower Senior School pupils with the freedom to enjoy the natural environment and to discover themselves. Free to climb and swing from trees, and to make dens, camp-fires and life-long friends within a consistently risk assessed area, the young people get to enjoy every minute; rain or shine.Key to the long term investment in the Forest School is the opportunity for the pupils to learn things that are not taught and tested in most Schools; but are increasingly essential in next generation careers. Problem solving skills, agility, self-confidence, tenacity and resilience are developed through a combination of free play and structured challenges.
