The constant aim is to facilitate children’s learning in a warm, encouraging and respectful community existing in a quality and stimulating environment. The ethos relies heavily on the concept of independent learning and self-discipline. They hope to develop in all children the desire to learn and the ability to apply their knowledge. At the same time they want to help each child find the self-esteem and confidence that are so necessary to live a full and happy life. Through first-hand experiences and subsequent understanding, they wish to cultivate in all our children not only the need to learn but also a pride in their work, respect for their surroundings and good relationships with others at home and at school. At Golborne Community Primary School we aim to ensure our children are immersed in a curriculum which is rich in progressive skills; promoting reasoning, high quality subject-specific vocabulary; enhanced by models and images. Reading lies at the heart of the curriculum at the school, with an emphasis on reading to learn. They are dedicated to enabling our children to become lifelong readers. Through quality first hand experiences, across the whole curriculum, they create independent learners with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to learn. Therefore, the curriculum prioritises all curriculum subjects combining SMSC and our School Values Curriculum.
SEND
A person has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her. At compulsory school age this means he or she has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others the same age, or, has a disability which prevents or hinders him or her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools
Out of School Club
Golborne Community Primary School operates a term time breakfast and after school club. As you can see from the timetables we offer a great range of activities such as crafts, games and sporting activities to keep all ages active and motivated throughout club. This is a great opportunity for children to mix with different age groups and make new friends. Breakfast club operates as self- serve breakfast which allows children to eat when they want and as much as they like throughout the morning. After school club runs in a similar way however all children sit down to eat together. They value the children’s ideas and often let them set their own rules and activities. This results in great behaviour, promotes independence and has a more focused approach towards activities.
