Description

It is the school’s vision that every single young person who joins the school is offered all the opportunities to learn, experience and achieve what they need and want, to build a fulfilled life. This aim extends to our staff team.Fulbrook stands against all forms of discrimination on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or ability.

Fulbrook is a special and unique place. Visitors to the school often inform them of how struck they are by the disciplined, caring and happy atmosphere that is evident. The dedicated, talented staff work hard to inspire and support. Teachers provide vibrant and creative lessons, delivered in purposeful and well resourced classrooms. At Fulbrook Middle School they respect each other and are committed to an ethos in which we work and learn together for success. They actively look for opportunities to celebrate achievement. Courtesy and the consideration for others are essential to the whole school values.

Curriculum
Regardless of their starting point, it is the intention to enable all children to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills to make decisions, to self-evaluate, to make connections and to be lifelong learners, who have been encouraged and enabled to achieve their aspirations and to become compassionate, respectful and responsible citizens.Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum. They build a sense of community within our teaching and year groups, as well as across and beyond the school. Children leave the school with a sense of belonging to a tight-knit community – the Fulbrook family. We recognise that our school and local community are not hugely diverse, but that our children will live in a diverse society. It is our responsibility, therefore, to ensure that they will be prepared to take their place in it. Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development must permeate the curriculum they provide, but perhaps most importantly for our school context, the development of mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths, beliefs and cultures (a fundamental British value) is a priority. We celebrate and welcome differences, but recognise that, of our twelve values, Acceptance is one of paramount importance.

Things to note

Extra Curricular Activities
The activities take place either before school, at lunchtime or after school, with the sporting events arranged at the appropriate time of year. While many of these activities do take place at lunchtimes, where students are involved before or after school, they must inform their parents who in turn need to ensure that arrangements for transport to and from school have been made. Students may also be involved in rehearsals for music and drama productions. In these instances we will request parental permission in writing for children to take part.

After School Care
Two after school clubs are available to pupils and are run by local providers. Pupils are escorted to their clubs by adult supervisors.

Excursions and visits
Visits are made to various places of interest as an integral part of the children's studies in school. Some are within walking distance while others are further afield. In addition to the visits which are organised, a number of individuals and organisations visit the school to talk to and entertain the children. Children enjoy their visits enormously, but it must be understood that complete co-operation and high standards of behaviour are expected at all times in the interest of the safety and good of all concerned.
