The unique blend of day and boarding pupils creates a real buzz around school. Feltonfleet children are optimistic and inquisitive, with a thirst for life and learning. They thrive here.Feltonfleet's combination of talented and dedicated staff, an inspiring curriculum and 25 acres of beautiful grounds with exceptional facilities, encourages children to use their imagination, to think creatively, to explore the world around them and to strive to excel. High standards and expectations are grounded in the conviction that academic excellence and enjoyment of childhood go hand in hand. Unusually for a prep school, we have ‘time to stop & think’ lessons to nourish emotional wellbeing and to develop resilience and strategies for lasting mental health.
Nursery and Pre Prep
Throughout the Pre-Prep phase, pupils are nurtured through excellent teaching and pastoral care as they develop core academic skills, personal qualities and attitudes for life. They recognise the benefits of having the time and space to explore, to investigate, question, collaborate and play out all the experiences that underpin lifelong learning. Every moment of their precious childhood is truly valued. Classroom facilities combine modern technology with all the best features of a spacious, traditional setting in a house surrounded by a stunning natural, wooded environment. All Nursery, Reception and Year One pupils are educated largely within Calvi House and its grounds, with regular visits to the Swimming Pool, Dance Studio, Ashbee Theatre and Sports Hall on the main school campus.
Lower School
A purposeful focus on developing independence and a positive attitude towards living, learning and leading helps the pupils to explore new experiences and strive to be the best versions of themselves. Pupils are taught in forms for most academic subjects, with sets for Maths and English. Geography, History, Science and Technology are taught through a thematic approach following the International Primary Curriculum and pupils move to dedicated areas of the school for specialist teaching in French, Digital Learning, Design Technology, Music, Drama, Art and PE.
Middle School
Year 5 brings new experiences with specialist teaching for all subjects. Time with Form Tutors is an element of the nurturing framework that supports pupils as they build on their personal organisation, self-discipline and motivation. They nurture individual aptitudes, fostering a thirst for learning whilst developing the skills pupils need across the curriculum. Those who require additional help with Maths and English have tailored support.Pupils are taught by subject-specialists in all lessons and personal organisational skills improve as pupils move more widely about the school.Games take place three times a week - a strong fixtures programme fosters team spirt, physical fitness and collaboration.
Upper School
In the Upper School pupils follow a broad and rich curriculum which thoroughly prepares them for success in their senior schools and beyond. Academic rigour lies at the heart of all this, along with a focus on the development of the core skills of thinking and learning, reviewing and improving and communicating. Independence, collaboration and leadership are emphasised throughout, and pupils flourish in assuming wider responsibilities within the Feltonfleet community, from taking meaningful leadership roles to representing the school at the highest level in sporting, creative and academic spheres.
SPORT
Sport is a very important feature of life at Feltonfleet and a busy Games department aims to provide the greatest possible opportunity for all pupils to develop skills and represent the school. In addition to curricular PE and organised sport, our pupils are encouraged to take an active interest in extra-curricular activities to support physical learning and understanding. The Feltonfleet Sport aim is to ‘create better athletes…..for life’.
