Description

Exeter School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils between the ages of 7 and 18 in Exeter.

Facilities

  • Exeter School’s 25-acre site is well equipped with a range of first-class facilities. In addition to the large playing fields, the school has its own 3G astroturf arena, sports hall and fitness suite, studio area, climbing wall, indoor shooting range, squash courts, and an all-weather court. 
  • The indoor 25m swimming pool opened in summer 2017. Exeter Junior School pupils in Years 3 and 4 enjoy swimming lessons all year round and older children also make use of the pool during their curriculum PE lessons. 
  • There are also two well-stocked libraries, one in each part of the school, a newly-refurbished drama studio, arts studios, purpose-built music school, chapel, and gallery. The school has a number of high-quality ICT facilities, with four dedicated rooms in the senior school, custom suites for music, design technology, and sixth form study, and a specialist suite in the junior school.
  • All classroom teaching facilities across the school undergo a regular programme of rolling refurbishment and upgrades.
  • Exeter Junior School has a secure play space, including a mini astroturf and wide a range of play equipment such as large outdoor musical instruments. The junior school has a flexible assembly hall and dedicated facilities for junior school art, along with recently installed laboratory space for science and technology. As the senior and junior schools share the same campus, the junior school has access to all the school’s facilities across the site.
  • The sixth form have their own centre, complete with study and seminar rooms, a quiet reflection space, and a cafeteria where they can recharge their batteries with bacon butties, fruit and a chat.

  • With over 25 sports played across 25-acre site with 25m indoor pool, sport plays an important role in the life of Exeter School. 
  • Junior Art Club enables Third to Lower Form pupils (Years 7 – 9) the opportunity to try new techniques. Life drawing classes for sixth form pupils help to develop pupils’ observational skills and their understanding of the human form.
  • The music school has an outstanding reputation and offers specialist classrooms, 18 practice rooms, and a concert hall. 
  • Involvement in drama outside the classroom is both popular and highly valued by the school community. School productions are invariably of an exceptional standard.
  • The design technology department aims to instil a mix of traditional skills with modern technologies and rapid prototyping. Pupils interested in design, creativity, engineering and science can combine their passions and make the most of the state-of-the-art facilities.

Admission Details

  • As you begin this journey with for your child you can complete the Registration Form below.
  • Exeter School welcomes girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 18. The junior school has children from Year 3 (7+) until the end of Year 6 (10+), after which they move across into the senior school.
  • The main points of entry into the school are in Year 3, Year 5, Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form. Entry into other year groups is, however, possible subject to the availability of a place.
  • You are welcome to visit the school, either on an open event or by coming for an individual visit, or both.

Fees

Academic year 2022 - 2023

Registration fee: Payable on registration and non-refundable £150

Registrations for September 2023 entry made after 14 December 2022 will incur an additional charge of £50

Acceptance deposit: Payable by the parents of each pupil on acceptance of a place

Fees

Senior school: £15,525 per annum, charged in three termly instalments each of £5,175.

Junior school:

  • Form One/Upper One (Years 3 and 4) - £12,720 per annum, charged in three termly instalments of £4,240
  • Lower Two/Upper Two (Years 5 and 6) - £13,035 per annum, charged in three termly instalments of £4,345

Sibling discounts: A reduction of 5% of the tuition fee will be made for the second child in respect of whom fees are being paid in the senior or junior school, and 10% for the third or subsequent child.

Daily lunch pass: £4.90. Please note that lunches are compulsory in the junior school and optional in the senior school.

Extras: The tuition fees cover all normal expenses incurred by the school in the education of pupils. Tuition fees do not include the charges for external examinations, whether modular or linear. These are paid in advance by the school on behalf of the pupil and shown separately on fees invoices. An amount will be added to the fees invoice for the optional school fees refund scheme. 

Scholarships

  • Academic scholarships for 7+  pupils new to Exeter Junior School are awarded based on the results of the entrance assessments sat in January of the year of entry.
  • Exeter School offers a range of scholarship opportunities to pupils who are talented in their chosen discipline. Scholarships are available at 11+, 13+ and 16+ for pupils who show excellence in art, drama, music, and sport. Academic scholarships for pupils new to Exeter School are awarded based on the results of the entrance assessments sat in January of the year of entry.
  • All registered candidates for the 11+, 13+ and 16+ examinations are automatically considered for an academic scholarship or exhibition based on their performance in the examinations and interviews.
