We teach the ‘whole child’, ensuring they have a genuine thirst and love of learning. Children who leave Eton End are rounded individuals who are well prepared for an exciting future on the next stage of their educational journey. They have a nurturing environment with small class sizes and individual pupil attention, which all lead to excellent academic progress. Close contact between home and school, quality teaching by inspirational teaching staff, enriching trips and after school activities enable us to develop well rounded children.

Facilities

Nursery
The Nursery is situated at the heart of the school community. It consists of a number of rooms and side space which contain all the elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. For children to become successful learners they need to feel happy, safe and secure in their everyday learning world.Emphasis is placed on providing a positive environment within which we enable the children to become active and competent learners. Communication between school and home is open and consistent.

Pre Prep
Incorporating Reception, Year 1 and 2, Pre Prep is where our children begin their formal learning journey. We ensure all children are offered rich, challenging and fun experiences in a secure and friendly environment. To keep learning exciting, a series of topic-based approaches is used. By linking separate subjects under the umbrella of a topic, the learning is fun and stimulating. As the pupils progress through the department lessons become more subject orientated and less topic based however.  This creative and gradual approach to the curriculum benefits from good quality enrichment activities too; the curriculum is skills based and knowledge supported.

Prep School
At Eton End they take great pride in the breadth of our Prep School curriculum, enabling us to recognise and encourage our pupils’ strengths across a wide range of subjects inside and outside of the classroom. Our rigorous, inspirational classroom teaching in academic subjects is enhanced and complemented by creative and physical subjects – Art, Music, Sport and Drama – giving children a balanced, rounded education. This happens in a happy and secure learning environment where they are valued and respected as individuals.  The children are encouraged to develop lively, enquiring minds where they question and discuss rather than merely accept.

Features

Things to note

Before & After School Care
As part of the extra-curricular programme for our pupils, we offer before and after school care for children aged 3 and above. With options from 7:45am until the start of school and from the end of the school day until 6:00pm. It is only in exceptional circumstances that very young children attend both before and after school sessions.

Beyond the Curriculum
Working around the academic curriculum is an optional extra-curricular programme for our pupils to participate in. During the school day at break and lunch-times there are rehearsals for the Choir, Music and Dance groups. The Library opens at times that allows time to read, exchange books or perhaps enter into a game of chess in this quiet environment. There is also a termly rotating programme of other activities for pupils to take part in.After school we have a full timetable of craft, drama, sport and activity clubs run by our teaching staff. We also have a number of coaching specialists that visit the school; these may include LAMDA drama classes, Gymnastics, Netball, Street Dance, Multisports, Football, or Tennis.

Peripatetic Music Lessons
Music is held in high esteem at Eton End and, as such, our wide music curriculum is complemented by a programme of peripatetic (private) instrumental lessons.  Some instruments are available for children from Year 1 upwards and others require children to wait until Year 3 due to the level of maturity required. However they are all encouraged to take up an instrument within school, if they would like to.Many children then go on to achieve great success in Associated Board examinations as they develop their musical skills.
