Prep
Other schools have a teacher who teaches their class for all of their lessons, occasionally with the addition of a peripatetic music teacher or a sports coach. From Year 1 they have teachers who specialize in their subject. They have greater knowledge, enthusiasm and a passion for the subject which is evident in the quality of their teaching. They have a staff meeting every week and we discuss the children and any problems they may have; academic, social or medical. The contribution and different areas of expertise of all the staff, is extremely valuable when planning an intervention. Every member of staff knows all of the children and works closely in a team to resolve any issues. Teachers supervise the children at playtimes and it is very important that they should know them all well.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
There are seven areas of learning and development that shape educational programmes in early years settings. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas are known as the prime areas and there are four additional specific areas. The Nursery also follows the Every Child Matters Framework which works in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage. The government has introduced a national framework for local programmes to build services around the needs of children and young people so that they maximise opportunity and minimise risk. The services that reach every child and young person have a crucial role to play in shifting the focus from dealing with the consequences of difficulties in children’s lives to preventing things from going wrong in the first place.

Features

Things to note

After School Activities
Each term they are able to offer a wide range of after-school activities, including a variety of music and sports clubs. Some of these are changed each term (depending on the weather) and are selected from the following: Adventure Service Challenge - junior version of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme; Drama, Creativity Club, Gardening, Art and various Sports Clubs.

Parent & Toddler Group
It is very helpful if children can attend the group with a parent or carer before enrolling for the Nursery School, as they become familiar with the nursery staff and the school environment before attending on their own. If this is not possible please speak to the nursery staff who will arrange an alternative time.
