Dale House is a small private independent school in West Yorkshire, which encourages self-confident, hard working, responsible, polite and considerate children. The catchment area covers Batley, Wakefield, Leeds and all surrounding areas. They have an excellent examination record, and a good relationship with and successful placement of pupils at Wakefield Girls High School, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Silcoates School, Bradford Grammar School, Batley Grammar School, Heckmondwike Grammar School, etc.

Nursery
Dale House is  a small Independent Pre-Preparatory School and Nursery for boys and girls aged between 2 and 11 years of age.  We pride ourselves in providing a private day nursery that meets the needs of the child and parent.Pupils are accepted into the Nursery (age 2 – 3 years) on the understanding that they will enter the full time Prep class aged 3 years, in readiness to enter school in the Transition (Reception) Class aged 4 years (birthdays by 31st August each year).Our Nursery classes (Nursery and Prep) can cater for up to 20 children between the ages of 2 years and 4 years.

Nursery & Prep Classes
In the Nursery and Prep classes the children learn to work and play together, providing them with a solid foundation in social skills.  It is here that they try to instill in the children our core values:The pursuit of excellence. Care and respect for all people. Self expression and individuality. Rewards for honesty, diligence and effort. Encouraging self confidence and self discipline.

Lower Prep I and Lower Prep II Classes
The teaching for years 1 and 2 incorporates all of the National Curriculum subjects, and additionally offers French, Spanish, Music, Drama and Computing taught as separate subjects. In these two classes pupils are taught by specialist teachers for some subjects. Dale House embraces both traditional teaching methods and proven modern practice, to provide the very best educational start for your child.The school prides itself on its happy family-like atmosphere, where children are involved in a variety of activities, finding pleasure in achievement.

Upper School Juniors
As well as the core National Curriculum subjects, pupils in years 3 to 6 also study French, Spanish, Music and Drama. Personal Social Health & Economic education (PSHE), Spiritual, Moral, Social, & Cultural (SMSC) and Fundamental British Values (FBV) are taught and delivered through assemblies, school events, British customs, celebrations, extra-curricular activities, special events days, plays, concerts, charity work, Drama, RE, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Art , sport, visits, trips, etc.Academic studies are brought to life by experiencing a good range of educational visits to museums, theatres and places of historical interest, which pupils enjoy greatly, and also through links with the local community.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE
Dale House School offers care for children before school, after school, and in the school holidays.  Clubs are run by our own team of well qualified, dedicated staff.  This offers parents the flexibility and security of knowing that all children will be well cared for by established members of staff, who are qualified teachers or Nursery Nurses, and have been trained in Safeguarding, Child Protection and First Aid.

Admission Details

Dale House Independent School is one of the Independent schools in West Yorkshire where pupils achieve good academic standards and may make rapid progress as a result of work well matched to their abilities and excellent support from teachers Admission to the school is by interview with the Headmistress only. Most children enter the Nursery at the age of 2 years, or Prep class at the age of 3, and progress into the School.
