Description

Colston Bassett School Limited is Independent Primary school in Nottinghamshire for kids aged 4 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

They are a small, private, independent primary school located in the picturesque village of Colston Bassett, on the Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire border. They offer  pupils a unique, bespoke and holistic approach to education. The small class sizes with an enviable high teacher to pupil ratio ensures all pupils benefit from this fantastic level of personalised attention from the moment they join them. This is hugely beneficial at this formative stage of their young lives, when they are developing rapidly, soaking up information and absorbing so much from our rich learning environment. The outstanding pastoral care, combined with traditional family values, allow the pupils to thrive as happy and well supported independent learners. They have a 100% pass rate for pupils who have taken the 11+ examinations and every year all of our Year 6 leavers’ have achieved entry into the independent, grammar or state school of their choice. The stimulating teaching, extensive curriculum and wide-ranging extra-curricular activities, inspire each pupil to develop a love of learning and acquire skills for life.

Facilities

Preschool
The own preschool feeder, Millfield Nursery School, is owned and managed by John and Liz Miller, also the Directors of Colston Bassett Preparatory School. Millfield, at Cropwell Butler, 3 miles away, has been established for 31 years, is highly regarded in the area and is the main feeder to our Reception class each year.At Millfield they feel that the first steps a child makes into the world of learning are crucial to their development and ability to realise their potential in later years. They place great importance on these early days, seeking to provide a learning environment which offers the individual child a very positive beginning. The unique setting gives children the opportunity to learn both inside and outside as well as through adult led activities and through structured and free play.

Reception Class Preparation
At Millfield they fully understand how important the first encounter with formal school life is for both the child and parents. The goal is to ensure that every child has fun, enjoys learning, is happy and is given opportunities to grow.Historically, most of each year’s Reception pupils have chosen to attend Millfield first, so your child will already have formed firm friendships with their own peer group. They then ensure a smooth, gentle transition to Colston Bassett School with a series of “taster” visits/days from the Half Term prior to starting school in September. The children all settle very quickly, as on these days they all go together with their friends and are also accompanied by a familiar member of the Millfield staff too.
