Chilworth House School is an independent co-educational day for boys and girls. Based in Wheatley on the outskirts of Oxford, the school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.They enable pupils with a wide range of needs to access the curriculum, develop their self-esteem and realise their potential. The values based curriculum model is tailored to the needs of each individual and supports them to make rapid progress, both socially and academically.The school’s beautiful grounds are used creatively to enhance the curriculum and reflect the nurturing ethos of the school, making Chilworth House a positive and happy environment to work and learn. Key Stages & Education
Pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 attend Chilworth House School and follow the national curriculum. They provide a broad and balanced curriculum with opportunities for enrichment activities through educational visits and field trips. They believe in encouraging pupils’ self-esteem, which is often low when they start with us, by ensuring the curriculum and tasks set are challenging yet achievable, thus enabling them to further succeed and develop.

Range of Needs
The dedicated staff will spend time finding out what your child enjoys and what they are interested in, so that their interests are integrated in their learning experience. This along with other needs feature in their Individual Care and Education Plans, which sets targets to address areas for development.Following your child starting they will be involved in discussions about their education on a regular basis. For example, through daily home-school diaries, Post Admission Review, Annual Reviews and in the writing of Individual Education Plans.Any pupil who exhibits social, emotional, psychological or behavioural difficulties is provided with support, where necessary, from the teaching and support staff and from our Pastoral Care Team, who are dedicated to ensuring that the pupils feel safe, settled, calm and ready to learn.

Therapeutic Support
They provide young people with unrivalled levels of therapeutic support, both in terms of the expertise and experience of our in-school staff and the wide range of therapies offered. The therapeutic approach includes:  As required, young people have the support of the Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. The commitment to delivering outstanding therapeutic support to all young people is based on attachment principles. They believe that unless a young person is able to feel emotionally secure they are less likely to fulfil their personal, social and educational potential.
