The four-storey, purpose-built school house has far-reaching views over the city and a number of specialist teaching spaces. Curriculum
English is central to every pupil’s life at Charlton House. Whether discussing a topic in history or explaining the outcomes of a science experiment, the language used is English. A passion for reading and writing is therefore at the heart of the curriculum, as they believe it is the responsibility to enable children to communicate effectively, sensitively and with confidence. Children from Year R to Year 6 are encouraged to do this through both the spoken and written word, with the aim of developing an excitement and enthusiasm for rich literature and language.

Art & Design curriculum aims to inspire, challenge and equip all children with the knowledge and skills to embark on a journey of experimentation and create their own unique works of art, craft and design. We also teach how art & design reflect and shape our history and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of nations.
Music
Throughout their time at Charlton House, children are given opportunities to forge their own musical journey. Music is taught by a specialist teacher who works with the children on this journey, helping them to develop an understanding of culture, history and ethnicity, and a love of music, either as listener, creator or performer.
