Bridge House Independent School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 5 to 18 (Gender - 5 to 18 )
Bridge House specialises in offering support to primary and secondary aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. They understand that, for some young people, their prior experience of school has not been positive, often resulting in disengagement and a general lack of enthusiasm towards education. At Bridge House, the holistic approach seeks to work together with the young person and their family to find ways of engaging them back into a learning environment which specifically meets their needs.Putting our students at the heart of everything they do, they provide each child entrusted to us with an engaging curriculum, delivered within a nurturing atmosphere, which meets both their academic and pastoral needs whilst supporting them to raise their aspirations and fulfil their potential.
Curriculum
Bridge House Independent School offers all of our students access to an engaging, broad and balanced curriculum, which provides them with an opportunity to develop all of the skills they will require to lead fulfilling and successful adult lives.By tailoring our curriculum to meet the individual needs of each student, we maintain a clear focus on enabling them to develop their personal skills, as well as providing the support needed to address any significant gaps in previous learning. The curriculum also places a clear emphasis on developing pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding. They ensure that all students are treated as individuals, promoting thoughtfulness, honesty, respect for difference, moral principles, independence and self-respect. These qualities are reflected in the school ethos and are woven into all aspects of both the curriculum and wider school life. In addition, they integrate the fundamental British Values of democracy- the rule of law; individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs – throughout the learning experiences. They encourage students to make a positive contribution to society in many ways, including involving them in community and charity events throughout the school year.
Safeguarding
At Bridge House, they strive to provide children with a safe, nurturing and welcoming place in which to learn. The health, safety and well-being of every child are our top priorities and, as such, Safeguarding and Child Protection remain at the heart of all they do. They maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’ where safeguarding is concerned. All staff are expected to share this commitment to safeguarding the pupils and understand that Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff receive regular training in Child Protection and know how to spot signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect. They are aware of the pathways for reporting concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and know that they are expected to ensure that they always act promptly, and in the interests of the child when they have concerns about a child’s welfare.
Selection Criteria: Selective
Bridge House is an Independent, Special Needs school, which specialises in working with pupils aged between 5 and 16 years old, who are considered to have Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs. Children are able to access places at the school following a successful referral from their current school or via the local authority. They individually consider each referral from an agency or school on the basis of the level and type of additional need of the student; the offer of a place will reflect our ability, as a school, to meet each individual student’s needs, in order to ensure that places at the school are offered in an open and fair way.
