Things to note
The CCF, or Combined Cadet Force, is a national youth organisation aimed at providing discipline, leadership training, self-reliance, perseverance and resourcefulness.
Art, drama and music flourish at Bedford Prep.
They nurture our boys’ sporting talents throughout their educational journey.
Giving boys the chance of broad experiences from an early age really matters.
Boys have the opportunity to go on a number of inspiring residential and day trips.
Candidates who register early for 13+ entry are invited to sit the Independent Schools’ Examination Board (ISEB) Common Pre-Test at their current school. The pre-test can be taken when a candidate is either in Year 6 or 7 (and currently anytime between November and March of those academic years). All boys who are seeking entry into Year 9 are assessed in English, Maths and underlying ability. They will also request a confidential reference from the Headteacher of your son’s current school and he will be interviewed by a senior member of staff.
All boys who are seeking entry into Year 10 are assessed in English, Maths and underlying ability. They will also request a confidential reference from the Headteacher of your son’s current school and he will be interviewed by a senior member of staff.
Entrance assessments for the Sixth Form are held in the January of the intended year of entry and boys are asked to indicate their preferred A-Level or IB subjects in advance of the assessment day. For A-Level, they will need minimum of grade 6/B in their chosen four A-Level subjects. For IB, your son would need to achieve a minimum of 6/B grades at GCSE/IGCSE for their chosen Higher Level subjects, and a minimum grade profile at GCSE/IGCSE of 655/BCC for their chosen Standard Level subjects.

Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to boys who excel academically or show outstanding talent in Art, Drama, Music or Sport. Boys who show ability in two of these areas and/or other particular strengths may be considered for an all-round award.
Scholarships are non-means-tested honours that are awarded to current boys and external candidates as they enter Year 9 (13+), and to external candidates only at Year 12 (16+). In exceptional circumstances, boys may be considered for a scholarship on entry to the school in Years 10 and 11 (Pre-IB course), subject to the availability of funding.
All boys wishing to be considered for a scholarship are required to attend the relevant assessment day(s) at Bedford School in the spring term before the September of entry.
