Facilities
From light filled glass libraries, state-of-the-art science labs to dedicated drama and dance wing learning is always exciting at BGS. The younger students are nurtured in dedicated Junior School building before moving into main school buildings at Year 7. Sixth Form House offers a large common room, private study spaces, seminar style teaching rooms and its own café, offering the independence needed as students look towards university and the working world.
Outstanding sports facilities include a 20 meet indoor pool, flood lit astro-pitches, a dedicated modern lacrosse facility, sports halls and a fitness centre.
The school offers an indoor sports hall which is line marked with four badminton courts, 5 a-side football pitches and indoor hockey and netball courts.
They have a 20 metre heated indoor swimming pool, going from one metre at the shallow end to three metres at the deep end.
Outside, they have a full sized floodlit all-weather hockey pitch, marked up with lines for hockey, netball and tennis. For the winter season (September to March), the pitch can be hired out for hockey, netball or for football training or perhaps a friendly kick about, bookable either as a whole or half pitch. For the summer season there are 12 tennis courts available.

Things to note
Expert teachers deliver inspiring lessons which will capture her imagination, using technology to engage and challenge her intellect; whilst extensive experiential learning programme will help her explore new interests and hone passions.
Your daughter will start to make more choices, be expected to be more independent with her learning, take on greater responsibilities and play an active role in our community. They make sure every student feels listened to, and ensure that they are having fun and are prepared for each stage of their studies.
As the only academically selective all-girls’ school in Bedfordshire they offer a unique learning environment. Sitting on the edge of Bedford town centre on the banks of the River Great Ouse, Bedford Girls’ School is ideally placed for families from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes, East Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire, with a number of bus and train routes providing easy and accessible transportation links for students. Each year they hold main assessment period in the January before the September entry point. However, they appreciate that families may make plans at other times of the year and are happy to consider your daughter for a place, if there is space available, at different points in the year. They welcome families who are relocating to the area and will coordinate with their current schools to hold remote assessments if candidates are unable to come to into school. They are here to help support families with their move to the area.
