Year 1 (Beech)
The adjustment from Reception to Year One is a smooth transition for the children at Avenue House School. Already familiar with the class teacher and assistant, the initial stages of Key Stage One proceed with ease and enjoyment for the whole class. Opportunities to experience a variety of teachers who visit the class to share their subject specialism and knowledge, enables Year One to benefit from the range of expertise available.
Year 2 (Willow)
Upper Key Stage One provides children with the knowledge and understanding that prepares them thoroughly for Year Three at Avenue House School. Emerging skills demonstrated in Year One are consolidated throughout the year and children are challenged to guarantee motivated young minds that relish new experiences and opportunities for growth. The approach in Year Two encourages an increasing independence amongst learners who are ready to assume more responsibility and aspire to achieve all that they can.
Year 3 (Oak)
Entering Key Stage Two, the children recognise the expectations of joining the senior years at Avenue House School. Maturity, responsibility and the knowledge that they are far from being the youngest anymore, sees children in Year Three complement the knowledge and understanding already established with new opportunities to pursue and embrace.
Year 4 (Maple)
Maple (Year Four) sees children continue to explore a broad and balanced curriculum that engages and inspires throughout each term. With a certain emphasis on English and Mathematics progressing further, each child plays an important part in their learning journey. Opportunities to develop thinking skills, complete research and explore areas of personal interest sees self-expression and confidence as integral to the process of growth.

Year Five ushers in thoughts of life beyond Avenue House School and a suitable destination for each child. With considerable knowledge of the individual, given the size of each class, we are well-placed to advise and guide on prospective senior schools and, ultimately, applications. Setting high expectations throughout the school culminates in an admirable work ethic where pursuit of agreed targets shapes success.
Year 6 (Cedar)
Year Six combines preparation for senior school examinations and interviews with access to a balanced curriculum from which the pupils benefit. A measured approach to entry at eleven with the size of the class allowing for strong pastoral care, children aspire to secure offers from a range of schools beyond Avenue House. Well-equipped and sensitive to effectively manage the needs of all, the process proceeds smoothly whilst the inclusive atmosphere prevalent throughout the school celebrates the success and achievements of all pupils.
