Young V&A in Bethnal Green is a lively, family-friendly museum where children, young people, and families can imagine, play, and design through hands-on creative experiences. Open seven days a week with free general admission and no booking required, the museum features three main galleries Imagine, Play, and Design offering interactive displays and workshops. From 23 October to 2 November, up to four children can visit the Making Egypt exhibition for free with an accompanying adult.

Visitors can also design a party outfit inspired by men’s fashion through the ages or create a talking textile inspired by African storytelling fabrics. Buggy parking is available near the main entrance, and while most areas are free to explore, some temporary exhibitions may carry an entry charge.

  • Design and Make Your Own Story: Use objects from around the home to help you create your own story. Design costumes and sets, and bring your story to life. Suitable for ages seven and up.
  • Make a Treasure Hunt Story: Choose five everyday items such as a toy, drawing, or photo. Place them in a treasure bag and invent a story around them. Decide who the main character is a pirate, spy, or even a dog and imagine their world.

    • Produced as part of Africa Fashion at V&A South Kensington.
    • Discover African fabrics that tell stories and design your own patterned textile that reflects your story. Suitable for ages seven and up.
