Description

Monkey World is an award-winning ape rescue centre in Dorset, UK, known for housing the largest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa. It rescues and rehabilitates primates from the illegal pet trade, labs, and abusive tourism roles, giving them a safe home. The park also runs Europe’s only Orang-utan Crèche for orphaned or abandoned orangutans.

Families can enjoy multiple adventure playgrounds, including the Great Ape Play Area, where kids can climb and swing like their primate cousins. Daily keeper talks and Q&A sessions provide insight into the animals’ lives, and guided tours—on foot or buggy—offer an educational look at the 65-acre park. Virtual Zoom tours are also available for remote visitors.

Admission prices at the gate are £19.00 for adults, £12.75 for children and seniors, with discounted online tickets available. Children under 3 enter for free.

Monkey World offers three birthday party packages—Gibbon (£17), Orangutan (£20), and Chimpanzee (£25)—with perks like party favours, gifts, decorated lunch areas, and use of the play zones.

Features

  • Monkey Around: With climbing frames, cargo nets, swings & slides, your little monkeys can take inspiration from our primate cousin’s activities, and see if they can balance as well as a chimp, climb as high as an orangutan, and swing like a gibbon
  • Great Ape Play Area: Let your little ones blow off some steam in our three adventure playgrounds, the largest being the Great Ape Play Area at the far end of the park, past the capuchin complex. With climbing frames, cargo nets, swings & slides, your little monkeys can take inspiration from our primate cousins’ activities, and see if they can balance as well as a chimp, climb as high as an orangutan, and swing like a gibbon!
  • Keeper Talks: Learn all about our closest living relatives through the recorded keeper talks. The keepers also hold informal Q&A sessions each day. Starting at 12pm at the marmoset house, you can hear from the people who care for the apes & monkeys every day, and gain an insight into their characters & personalities.
  • Personal Guided Tours: Monkey World’s highly popular guided tours take visitors on a 1 hour 15 minute walking tour through our 65 acre park. One of the Education Team will guide you on your journey, detailing the history of the park and our mission to end the illegal smuggling of primates from the wild.
  • Buggy Tours: Enjoy the park from the comfort of our 6-seater golf buggy! This exclusive option gives the tour-goers early entry to the park, at 9am, an hour’s guided tour and a breakfast butty at the Treetops cafe once completed!
  • Virtual Tours: If you can’t visit the park in person, book one of our Zoom tours! By the power of video conferencing software, a member of our team will take you around the park to see all your favourite primates.
